question about declaring past convictions...

Post by degrees of passion »

orite fellas im just wondering how strict and stringent the RM are on past convictions?ive read that you have to declare all, even spent convictions and that obviously some may restrict you being able to join certain units.

im asking out of my general interest and my mates, who was previously convicted under the vagrancy act(somethin bout flashin sum lasses for a laugh and he ended up getin done for it lol),its not a serious crime(think he did sum probation for it) and i think it will become spent when he applies for RT,but will this impede him at all and should he declare it or just keep his trap shut about it??

personally i wouldnt mind knowing if the corp check all your records both medical and criminally anyway, because ive heard of many people not being able to join due to having asthma for example when they were young-supposing you fail to mention this would they pick up on it anyway?

All convictions need to be spent, even driving disqualifications, if you get an 18 month ban, you can't join until the ban is up. Pathetic really, but thats life.

Bit pathetic though the way you can't join with a driving ban, even if you have passed prmc and get banned just before you're due to start RT, literally a few days before, then being told you can't join because of the ban. This hasn't happened to me though, yet!

is it that you can even start your RT or do the c@#t a conviction is spent,or that you cant actually pass out until its spent ie/as long as its spent before the end of RT? im only asking cos it means like an extra year of waiting.

I got told that if i get banned from driving in the next few days (i passed prmc in december), then i won't be able to start RT while banned, and would have to wait until the ban is up and then start the application process all again.
