I hate the Iraq/Vietnam comparison its nothing like it at all.
I think the decision to send more troops is the right one because it has always been said from the outset there wasn't enough manpower, and now there is even less so hopefully the extra numbers will help. The militias just need to be wiped of the face of the earth, they will never act in the best interests of Iraq, only for themselves. Why they have been allowed to continue to operate is beyond me.
The democrats and people like clare short think they are the big shots calling for all the troops to come home and are just trying to score political points but if that happens Iraq will never ever recover and in 5-10 years it will just be the next afghanistan.
There are enough good people in Iraq to make it work (the vast majority), we just need to give them the help they deserve after the planning mistakes that were made by the US. Countries like Iran and Syria also need to be made to play ball because it is clearly evident that they stir up a lot of the trouble for their own gains. Not that any of that ever gets publicised its always the US and the UK messing up according to our media.

Basically I'm saying; Iraqi people state the militia/insurgents prevent trouble in their neighbourhoods but is it not these militant groups who cause the trouble in the first place?AJtothemax wrote:Yeah, i dont understand what you're trying to say???Spetz wrote:Correct me if I'm wrong here; but iraqi citizens say that the militias give much more security than the coalition forces, but aren't the militias the major groups threatening the security in the first place?

If its to do with the iraqi people trusting the very people who are causing the trouble - thats because they are desperate, and like i have said, the militas are winning the propoganda war.
If its not that then could you please explain. Thanks.
