Whats the score with minor criminal convictions, ie common assault, abh?

Does it have to be spent, ie 5 years after untill you can appply?

The paras is probably the only regiment in the army where you can join with a criminal record, so why not give it a go!

I dont know if your allowed to join if you still have a conviction you havnt spent, but they best people to ask is your local Army Careers Office.

I was passed by glasgow (as a re entry) and i have an assault charge and a group of driving convictions i.e no insurance and banned driving so i shouldnt see a problem if it was a one off thing but yeah ask at afco they deal with that sort of thing day in day out

Cheers for the reply's, how long ago were you convicted. and what leve; of assault charge was it if you don't mind me askin?

My driving convictions were regular up until about a year ago and i had7 of them including no-bailers (getting picked up for not going to court) and my section 14 and abh was 2 years ago

common assault wont be a bar, someone where i live got charged with common assault literally grabbing the person to restrain them from fighting. (guy sued him, typical eh)

i had three abh convictions and some prison time for violent disorder five years ago as soon i got out i went to the careers office with the intention of jioning the paras i was then told to piss off and come back in five years and now im here going for basic in two weeks after a five year wait trying very very hard to keep my nose as clean as i can
