waddington airshow 2003
who is going to waddington this year and what planes are you looking forward to seeing
the raf are the best in the world
Hey Boots..... I thought all aircraft could fly... the problem is finding pilots to man em, especially the foreign designed ones, coz when they were designed the left out the little cubby hole where the lads put their Brillcream!
Wot no in coming

I'll be there on the Sunday. My nurse thinks it's safe for me to go to these shows now. I used to go to various ones and every time an aircraft appeared in the distance I would stand there screaming SEEN!........ON!........... ENGAGE! ........FIRE! The medication didn't always work you see and it was embarrassing for other people!
Always love seeing the Harrier (Real ones or them other ones with Navy on the side!
. It doesn't matter, I still think it is a superb aircraft.) Probably a bit early for the G.R.9 to be there though.

If I wanted to listen to an *rsehole, I'd fart!
Yup Budgie, no GR.9's this time, they have a Sea Harrier and 2 GR.7's on static display, with one GR7 flying.

Cheers Rabby.
Good site. Some of my old favourites guaranteed to be there. The Hunters and the Phantom in particular. I noticed a picture of a starfighter but not listed in the firm appearances. It would be nice to see the old widowmaker again.
If anyone is going on the Sunday and happens to spot a short fat grey haired B*st*rd wearing a faded Chester City baseball cap come and say hello. I don't bite anymore. (Well not since nurse hid my bloody dentures!
.Bugger!)

B1 - Awww, brings back memories of '99. It went supersonic as a farewell and and the boom killed several sheep and caused £130K worth of damage
. They came back last year and did 2 fly pasts VERY slowly
. When I was in Oman on Veritas we used to have a few take off every other hour, almost made me spill me tea!!
I don't know whose flying this year.

I don't know whose flying this year.
Well it's all over for another year THANK CHRIST
14 hour days listening to the same bloody questions "how fast", "how much", "how heavy" and my particular favorite "what did you do during the war in iraq"
. Anyway, all over now, just got to get them all home tomorrow, there should be a few sore heads

Have fun then? Just a few quick questions...
These Harriers, how much do they cost? Also, how much thrust do they produce? How many of them is there in the RAF? Same questions out to the Tornado and Jaguar please.
Now some miscellaneous questions:
How much brown/tan paint is on each aircarft?
How many bombs were dropped on Iraq?
Whats the stopping distance for a Tornado travelling at 200 mph? (I need to know stopping distances because I'm learning to drive at the mo
)
How long is a runway?
How long does it take to change an engine for a Jaguar?
Have you ever flown in a jet?
And, since this is your favourite, what did you do in Iraq?
Whats this business I've been hearing about the avionics on an E3 Sentry not working properly, are the Sentry groundcrew's not working hard enough...
One final question, why are RAF groundcrew so narky when they get asked questions!?
EDIT - Hehe, Ian, I was looking through your website and saw the photos of the French "Red Arrows". Couldn't help but notice that they were blue!
Frogs, they can't do anything right!

Great Day. Really enjoyed it. So many things that stood out. The display by the Hornet was superb. In fact I enjoyed most of the Air displays. I am not a great lover of piston aircraft unless the engines are Rolls Royce Merlins so things like the utterly butterly Stearmans didn't do a deal for me. Mind you I saw one or two of the girls at their ground display and that was something entirely different!!!
Even getting away wasn't too bad. There were delays which I expected but I thought we would have been stuck for a lot longer.
All in all a good day out.
P.S. Ian, answering the same (sometimes stupid) questions over and over again is part of the job when dealing with civilians. Always has been and always will be. Just be thankful you don't have to deal with civilians everyday of your working life.
