How to know if your over pro-nating?(edit!)

Post by euro_andrew »

Hey guys,

Just been having a couple problems with my shins cramping up. I was wondering how do I find out if I am over-pro-nating? I wana get the right shoes for running.

The best way to work that out is if you visit a podiatrist. Trust me, thats you best bet to get over any leg pains/ problems.

Firstly its excessive pronation (or supination) not pronouncing.and secondly medial tibial pain syndrome (shin splints) can be related to a number of factors; rapid increase in training intensity, poor biomechanics, weak musculature and extremely hard surfaces (concrete, tar) go see a physio or biokineticist first and they will refer you to a podiatrist if you need one! treatment: relative rest,R.I.C.E, correct program design, muscular strengthening.

As said visit an expert.

But an easy way to check is to look at a pair of shoes you've had for along time from the back and see if the sides have been pushed inwards or outwards.

Best thingtodois locateyour nearest running/triathlon shop; they can look at your feet and advise as to the right sort of shoes. If the problem persists seek expert advice, best try and deal with the injury now.

if you go to a running shop like the sweatshop they will get you to run and they will watch you. I got some shoes for £75 for an over pronator like myself and it has helped a little, feels alot better.
