First off hello to everyone. I'm a new member to MF&T although I have been using it for some time for reasearch. It has been extremely helpfull. My name is Matt and im 18 (19 next month ) I applied to join the Royal Marines late February 06. I was just wondering whether there was anyone else using these forums that's going on the RMAD in Birmingham on the 12/09/06. If so do you know what it consists of??
AFCO-Feb
Psychometric tests-March-Pass
Interview-May-Pass
Medical-May-Delay due to questionairre about history of asthma being checked (this took ages but allowed me more time to train)
Medical passed-July
PJFT-Aug-Pass, 9.12
RMAD-12/09/06
PRMC??
i did one in bristol it basically day one of the prmc
-3miler
- bleep test
- sit ups
-press ups
- pull ups
we had spare time so we looked at some weapons which was cool oh and straight after the 3miler we did a mini bottom field which they said was ment to be like the real thing just shorter, infact bottom is alot harder. (for me).
prmc-25th july-passed
2nd october- recruit training
i never did rmad, from what i heard it is just the first day of the prmc, so i guess you can take it as a heads up, its hard work, but its worth it because its one small step towards that green beret
40 Cmdo
Never Ever give up
Taking life one step at a time...
Cheers guys thats cleared things up for me. I wasn't sure whether to go on it but now you've said its the same as day 1 of the PRMC I think it would be a good idea so i'd know what to expect and also a good opportunity to make sure I have the correct technique for all exercises.
alright matt,
i am on your RMAD in birmingham on 12th sept. it will be my second (due to injury) The 1st one i did was back in june, you do the 3 miler first thing (at edgebaston reservior sp?) after a thourough warm up doing some hill sprints and press ups etc. then we go to HMS Forward which is just around the corner. here you get a dhobi and then upstairs for a talk about RM units, careers etc etc. then after lunch you do bleep test followed by press ups, sit ups (all done outside on car park) then in the gym for chins. we were supposed to have a "weapons aquaint" but the armourer wasnt there to open up the armoury so we just sat around chatting.
its a really good day and a very good eye opener on technique needed for PRMC. definatly make sure you go pal.
ill see you there

Hi guys. How was it? I was supposed to be going on it but the guy from my afco said that he'd put me on the one for October 31st instead. I was a bit dissapointed because my running was coming along nicely and so was my sit-ups and pull-ups but now im glad in a way because i was having a bit of a problem getting over the 40 mark for my press-ups.
What was the most difficult part for you guys? What were your scores like? Do you have any tips that would be usefull, this would be a big help.
