drugs

Post by lodgi »

Im in the process of applying for the marines. I've been training for the PRMC for about a month now, and am filling out my application form today. I realise I will have to go for an interview and speak about my background and jobs and family etc. But just wondering what they ask about if you have ever taken drugs.
Now, I posted a bit ago on here saying I was smoking weed regularly and was going to stop and get fit. This, I have done, I am commited to getting myself fit enough to pass PRMC. I went from smoking it everyday with mates to not smoking any and I train 5-6 days a week now and only drink once a week. But what should I say on my interview? I havn't touched it for about 6 weeks now, and my mate who was in the army said I should tell them that I have tried it before In case it's still in my system on the medical, because he says if I say "I havnt had it" and it shows up they won't want mefor being a liar.
Also, if they ask me about other drugs, should I lie about them. I used to take extacy quite regularly at weekends, aswell as coke now and then. Ive had amphetamine a few times and tried horse tranqs too.
Please dont judge me, It's what i've done in my time but now I only get pissed, and only once a week, I'm commited to training and I understand the marines policy on drugs. I'm just wondering what to say on my interview.

I certainly wouldn't tell them you have touched any class A drugs, ecstacy only stays in your system for about 5 days so they won't pick it up if they do test you, tell them that you tried weed not that long ago but didn't like it and have no intentions of trying it again.

It's good that you have knocked it on the head, well done, alot of my mates take e's and I hate them for it, just do yourself a favour and stay well clear from that sh!t from now on.

I believe honesty is the best policy. Their veiw of lying or withholding the truth is not a good one.

On my interview my AFCO asked if I had read the policy on drugs and agreed with it - yes (obviously). Then he asked if I had ever taken any illegal drugs (to be honest it sounded more like an informal question from his own curiosity than anything), I told him that had smoked the odd bit of pot when I was at college (about 3/4 years ago for me) but that was it (and that is the truth before you ask).

As far as I am aware they don't drugs test you on your medical. The urine sample is for other health related stuff. So I guess the first time you could fesibly get drugs tested would be the day you start training.

Someone please correct me if they know I'm wrong.
Aways look on the bright side of life.

I recently had a medical for my job on the railways, and they took two samples, the nurse said one was for general haelth problems and the other was for intoxicants, so thats booze, drugs andany medicanes you haven't declared.

IMO and experiance, if your honest, they'll give youa fair hearing, but if you've lied, they wont trust you, so the odds of being declined are increased

If you have a problem with 2 possible answers, you can gurantee it will be the 3rd

Er this isn't the railway...

There isn't a drugs test in the first medical.

Think ill do that then jimbob. No point telling them about the class A's as theres no chance of em being detected. Ill just say I tried weed a few months ago before I started training and didnt like it and don't want to do it again.

In my interview I told them about me using drugs in the past. Im not sure how I came onto that subject though. I just told the truth and said I had tried it, didnt like it and basically dont want nothing to do with that scene. The thing is they aren't stupid and they know what goes on so it is best just to be honest. Im sure they have either been there themselves or have heard it all before. Drugs is definately a big part of teenage life nowadays

I disagree, it doesnt have to be, some of my friends do it and i have been offered various substances on many occassions but not once have I felt the need to put some crap into my body just to look cool or appease someone. id be lying if I said i didn't wonder what the effects are on your mind but at the end of the day id rather stay clean.

Drug taking is pathetic, especially if you are planning on joining the armed forces or such like. I wouldn't be impressed if i was a soldier and some crackhead was watching my back on operations.

Drugs are a big part of life, the fact that some of your mates of other peoples mates do them make it so. I aint never touched the stuff or dreamt of using and heres to hoping I never will!
just because it doesnt have to be a part of anyones life it doesnt mean that it is a part.

I know, and it depends where you put smoking and drinking into the equation, but personally I don't see the attraction of drugs and never will.
