Neil.

I suggested that you stopped digging a hole for yourself.

May I suggest that you act on your PM. :D

You may care to trawl through Steves post, you may read something of interest.

Only fast jet pilots, SF heli pilots and 22 do the practical TQ exercise now. Also the big 6 does not exist anymore when fighting non GC countries.

No doubt a slight oversite.

But when you refer to 22 doing the practical TQ exercise, do you not mean UKSF.

That is UKSF which includes both SAS and SBS.

lol...caught me... although UKSF would include 21 + 23 so i think I should have just included SBS...maybe SBS(R)...hmmmm. Stop confusing me.

Neil, hope you are sitting down!

I fully agree with you.

How people can be classed as a Para yet not be a qualified parachutist to me is just ridiculous.

The concept of not doing Combat Survival or TQ and yet being 'badged' would seem to be missing a valuable part of training.

Having been through that type of training would no doubt focus a persons mind on not being captured.
Also having been through the experience would better prepare a person to deal with the situation if captured.

The maxim of 'Train hard, fight easy' still stands.

Currently 21/23 and some others go through the 'theoretical' part of TQ. I'm sure they many would like to do the practical but JIW just don't have the manning power!

I would have been very happy if they (JIW) had not had the manning in 82 unfortunatly it was not a problem then BAST***S and thats just the female ones.....
