When I first started running I thought I knew exactly how far I was running. I used a car to clock the road run distances and pretty much guessed the cross country type of runs. I then bought a gps running watch that tells you the distance you have run and I found out every single one of my runs was miles shorter than what I thought they were.
I would definately recommend buying any type of gps running watch.
I used a the handy tool on my bike mate :wink: (cant remember that you call it, tells you distance, speed bla bla bla)

Thought about buying one of those actualy, didnt know if they were much use, i have a pedometer that clips on my belt but its shit, gives the totaly wrong distance no matter what i try!

yeah that program is very handy! alot cheaper than a GPS watch aswell, if i was using it i think id still make my mileage a little over the actual mile. 8)

hmm i dont know.... the place i run shows 1 mile roughly where my bike showd as 1 mile, but the longer the distance i think the more inacurate it'll get

Well that answered my question. No problems with using that method. Should of thought of something like that from the start. Oh well :roll:

Just tryd to do a longish route and kept the route line on the road and not "as the corw flies" and i ran out of markers!

Might be beter with one of those GPS watches for longish routes

Yep, not orderd them yet though, Ill do it later tonight, should get them by monday or something :)

Will do mate, doubt there will be much of a improvement, although... the trainers i run in now are falling to bits so you never know :lol:

decent trainers can make a huge difference mate, which in turn affects confidence. then you enjoy it more.
