Pay in training?

Alrite Lads,

Just finished Wk 3. Back for a long weekend.

You get payed either 100 or 200 pounds booster in the first week according to wether you join at the end of or start of the month.

You also get £200 at the end of week three to keep you going.

And from what i can gather you get around £750 a month.

Hope that clears it up guys.

Hey Dwarfy you were in the RMR, how does pay for that work out? Do you get paid monthly? How much were you getting on average per month?

The police do get good pay and soo do the RAF. Look at their pay, espeically officers, they start at 24,950 a year. BUT your forgetting money isn't everything. When your older what will you say to your grandchildren if you have any-
1. I went into the RAF did their basic 9 weeks of easy fitness, sat around in a base in an office getting loads of money. Don't get me wrong money is important, but theres some things money can't buy.
2. I went into the Royal Marines, did one of the hardest and longest basic infantry programmes in the world, became a commando and belonged to an elite force. YOU cant buy a 'Green Beret' or you could, maybe from a shop, BUT you could'nt buy the respect you have for yourself and the respect from others.

SOO......- you join the Royal Marines, stay in there for a while- then transfer into the RAF and reek the benefits of the high pay and easy life.
(sorry if I offended any RAF personal here, everyones has different standards, but the RAF's BASIC (not advanced) training doesn't compare to the Royal Marines)

Yeh but the RAF dont need high standards of fitness and there basic training might be easy but thats because there not infantry. Give a Marine a jet engine and they wouldnt have a clue. Everyone serves a purpose. Without air support we would be nothing.

As I said, in their BASIC training. You don't leanrn aero-mechanics in the basic training- lol. The basic training still needs to be relatively high, because what distinguishs them between military and civvy?. I understand that in ADVANCED or SPECIALIST training, the standards will be high, but the basic training is a joke.

9 weeks is more than enough time for the RAF to train their recurits to a standard that they need. The only need to tell them the basics. The Armys is only 12. Still makes them capable to do their job. The royal marines is only so long so you can get up to the standard to pass the commando tests and also teach things like amphibious assaults and that.

as far as i know you also get an extra £30 a week on top of your pay if you get your wings because you become parachute trained or something? not 100% just what i've heard because its para-pay not sure what its to do with or anything either just that your a trained parachutist i think?

Sorry i didnt see this untill now, so sorry for the late reply. With the RMR basicaly you get paid for all the training you do, be that a drill night or a weekend or any continuous training you do (you are meant to do at least one continuous training a year, and it is a requirement in order to to get your bounty).

Everything you do you will sign a pay slip form to say you have attended what ever it is, and also declare whether you require travel allowance. Pay was monthly, and i would assume it still is. Make sure you always sign for stuff or you wont get paid. As for an average pay, well it all depends on how often you get on the weekends, which are what build up your pay obviously. During training, there will be a fair few weekends.

RGJ Rifleman from what i have been told/experienced being an ex member of the armed forces isnt as much of a plus as it used to be, especially in the ever so PC met.

the armed forces dont get paid near enough, but you cant really compare police pay to army pay, its completely different. In the met you have to pay for your own house/mortgage/family/travel that might not be so big in the forces, especially with house prices in the south east.

Yeah but as a single lad, well not married, with no debts or anything, believe it or not ill be earning more in the forces than i do in my civi job. I think the pay ios really good for what you get out of the life there!! I agree the pay isnt great, but you have to remember that after tax and everything else thats deducted a standard wage in training is £750 all yours!!!! I get less than this at the moment and then it gets taxed after that!!! I cant wait to get in (by the way dont ask how i survive lol jokes)

Fitness freak you are very much out of line if you are talking about the RAF Regiment, fair enough if you are talking about the penguins but i think you will be fairly mistaken if you are talking about the Regiment. Their entry standard isnt great by the book but just wait till you get in, its still unbelievable hard. My dads an ex Para and ex regiment, and he siad both were equally hard, so id get facts before opinions.

Every infantry unit, be it Guards, Green Jackets, Marines, Paras, Regiment, all have high standards of fitness, and are hard ball players.
I know its a fact that the Regiment got into a fight with some lads at HMS Warrior and completely trashed the Marines, and that the Jackets fought against the Paras and thrashed them and all.

You have to remember, that the There are one hell of alot of opinions out there, and hundreds of all thoese sas books and sbs books alongwith marines and paras. But they are all difficult to get through.

Dont get me wrong the Marines are renound for being hard, but id never say the regiment were couch potatoes. I think me and many other are quite offended by this comment.

Fitness_freak dont mean to come across strong but as long as its not a comment about the RAF regiment and about the penguins then i whole heartedly agree, but not the regiment they are infantry mate.

I know the Regiment Gunners are a good regiment. My mate is in there, but they pride themselves to be different from the RAF. According to the regiment they are completely different from the RAF and the opinions he's got from the men is that they hate RAF personal, saying they are rubbish.

Look at it this way, every regiment is going to claim its the best, ist natural isnt it. Its the other mans grass is greener. All regiments are good as infantry as they pride themselves on it. I think personally form my dads account since hes been in them that i still think his idea is right that the marines are the way to go. But they all train hard and all hold a good reputation!!
