protein/creatine shakes quick question
hi guys was just wondering if your allowed to take protein and creatine shakes when during basic training, and what does everyone else here think of them??

other recruits havent had to use them, so why do you feel youll need them?? Would be good after 30miler though, for definete.

well i'v been taking protein for about 5 months and it's not because i want to turn into the incredible hulk, it's simply because your training will be a lot more effective if your using an appropriate diet...and it's so much easier to have a couple of protein shakes each day than spend half your wages on high protein based foods, however if you can't afford to spend money on protein go to your local supermarket and buy marvel dried milk, there is about 20g of protein in a pint of this stuff (there is about 17g of protein in a full can of tuna), and it's as cheap as chips

im not disillusioned its not a case of "if i drink this magic shake i'll be superman",but the benefits of adding extra(or replacing lost) protein and creatine levels are well documented-most sports use them,and certainly during basic training they're probably needed the most
-at the moment i only have one to two shakes a day when training and try and have a healthy diet,but im interested in how many of you(recruits/marines) use supplements cos i know that for some reason some people take the point of view that its cheating?like taking steriods to get an advantage,and i know the corp is passionately against the use of any drugs etc,so what's the opinion on supplements??

i've heard that taking creatine isn't the best for you, i had a buddy on it and he was taking it and gaining strength and what not except while he was gaining muscle he also gained a load of fat...as good as these drinks/bars look what ever they have in protein they are still bringing the content level of everything else up too... just a thought

No you don't gain fat. Creatine is pretty good for muscular endurance but you shouldn't really rely on it.

i saw an article that said use of creatine was linked to kidney problems, if i can find it i'll post it up.
don't know if theres any truth in that however.
sometimes i have protein shakes because i work till quite late and its not always possible to have a decent meal and i dont want to lose out on the goodness....mine has no steroids in it

Borismo yo uare right. If your fluid intakelevels aren't high it can do nasty things ot your kidneys. A report about frogs cancer and kidney research, supposed to be horseshite, but then my brother took creatine and protein and has cancer, so whether it does or not, Im keeping well away

Does it help with endurance and body weight exercises?
