I think a few guys on here are burning too much nervous energy worrying about particular scores, i.e PJFT times, amount of press ups and sit ups in 2 minutes etc.
Just because a certain individual clocks 9:15 on his PJFT as opposed to another guy who clocks 10:15, this by no means suggests that the 10 mins + guy has little chance of success on his prmc.
I think some guys here tend to overlook the big picture, as the title of the course suggests the ctc staff are looking for potential, there may be a guy who can bang out 60 perfect press ups in 2 mins and a guy opposite who struggles to reach 40, but if the perfect 60 guy has an attitude that stinks and all he does from start to finish is whinge and moan as opposed to the guy who struggles to 40 but shows determination and a bit of spirit and doesn't whine. my point here is that scores are not the be all and end all of the prmc by a long way, of course they are of importance but without the other attributes they are looking for (determination, positive attitude, spirit, sense of humour etc) then they are pretty much meaningless.
Don't lose sight of the big picture by concentrating too much on one part!!
Cheers.
Andy

I dont think anyone's implying anybody getting over 10 mins will fail but people who are getting 9 minutes 40 something on PJFT's are finding PRMC HARD. Just by simple thought process it stands to reason somebody with a 30 second higher PJFT time will find it HARDER and stand more chance of failing than the under 9 minutes PJFT candidate.banch wrote:I think a few guys on here are burning too much nervous energy worrying about particular scores, i.e PJFT times, amount of press ups and sit ups in 2 minutes etc.

Well its an indication on how well they'll do on the run, bleep test, bottomfield warmup and assault course... so yeah it sort of is a good indication as to how well somebody will do on the PRMC, why do you think a PJFT even exists ?Borisimo wrote:yep a PJFT is no real indication of how you'll perform on PRMC,its just to show you have a decent level of fitness and have the determination to go through with it i guess.
Agree with you there. The guys who got low pjft scores really struggled on the 3miler and bleep test. Lets face it EVERYBODY struggled on bottom field and gym test 2 was just about how much you had left in the tank and how much you wanted it, the fitter you are though the better going into a prmc.

i don't know about that boys, i don't think a treadmill test over 10 min isn't that big of a deal, running on a treadmill is a lot different from running in general. I think someone could get 10:45 on PJFT and still wreck people in prmc. just my thought.

my point is that the type of treadmill used varies depending on where you do the PRMC, for example the maximum mine went up to was 15.8kph where as other people could be whacking it up to 12mph etc.
i got 9.47 on PJFT but know i could have done it a lot faster but the person supervising me, no matter how pretty she was clearly didnt want to explain to me the features/max speed of the treadmill i was gonna use and was only interested in getting me under the 10.45 mark, not a best possible time.
and someone at my holding troop got about 10.20 on the treadmill but still beat me on the 3 miler...this is my point.
