POC - passed

Post by Deadhead »

Get in! I may well be unable to walk, and possibly have destroyed my left hip socket, but I don't care. I passed. As indeed did Sarastro. 9 made it out of 18.

We're going to write a joint 'my POC diary' in the next week or so, then post it up. Hopefully it will get stickied, as there isn't much in the way of POC info compared to the amount there is on PRMC. I'll post scores etc up at the same time, but feel free to ask questions in the interim.

Really? Curious. Then you have an impersonator, as somebody assured me they were you.

Andy from Bristol RMR, if you could post so we could clear up this matter, that would be handy. And pm me your email address.

Well, that's certainly made my day a bit more weird. Hope I don't have any Tyler Durden-esque multiple personalities wandering around...

Bloke named Andy, username similar to mine (Simmo), POC was coming up soon, from Bristol, and seems to be RMR.

Nice job.

Looking forward to the POC diary. In the mean time; what were your scores like? What sort of runs and minute/miles were you doing before hand?

I was running five miles a day, every other day in boots. Less concerned with times than with not stopping. About 100 press ups a day in batches of 20-30, chin ups were 3 x 10, and sit ups I just did whenever I was bored. Looking back on it, my fitness review from the PTI was basically that my upper body was OK, and my endurance/drive and determination was good, but my legs were pretty weak. I struggled a bit with the firemans carries, but finished at the front after the endurance course.

RMFA scores

Bleep 11.8
Press ups 49
Sit ups 76
Chins 10

That apparently gave me a score of 187, but both the PTI and the Capt who ran the course said that wasn't right, must have been a screw up in the math somewhere.

Well done mate!

How long were you doing the 5 mile runs for? And were you doing them EVERY day? In hindsight would you have maybe lost a couple of days of endurance for some extra leg power, like sprints or something?

Not that it matters much now of course, you passed! I'll definitely follow your example though if it did the job for you!

Nice one! 8)

...and go across some hills. Working in tough intervals as the terrain dictates, instead of regularly or when you decide, makes you much more adaptable and fitter in practice.
