Fitness Advice

Post by day tripper »

I used to be quite fit up until last october when my car was hit head on by joyriders. Since then I havent gone to the gym and piled on the weight. Im 6'3, big boned and current 15.8 3/4 st. I need to get down to 14st to be within the body mass index.

Im in a gym and tonight ive started running on the streets.

I can do around 40 press ups in 2 minutes and same for situps but incrementing it by 1 every day.

I cannot do any pull ups. Im targeting myself to lose 2lb a week and will shortly be getting a personal trainer.

I want to go for combat enginer/heating / plumbing engineer.

I havent started the application process yet, im going in on thursday for the initial chat.

Any advice?

i think you are worrying way too much......
trust me from experience just keep doin some kind of sport football ect...
if you wanna good workout for the heart try doin mile and half on treadmill or 2.4km aim for under 10 mins thats a very acceptable time...
im 28 and manage bout 9.45 on road 9.00 on treamill, people will argue its no good on treadmill but if mix it up with a bit of fartlek training(get a nice long road with lamposts and sprint and job between posts...
chin ups wise that just comes with practise...when i first joined i did a bit of taekwondo and that was it and i had no probs at all and i really aint that fit...i never actually practised pull-ups but when i got too lichfield i manged 12...think its easier on a beam for some reason....
overall i would say to you any phys you do now is fantastic...but dont go overboard and get an injury.....remember the tests are really basic just to make sure you have basic fitness....theyll get u sorted more when you get to phase 1....
hope this helps and good luck...

if you are trying to loose weight you should run first thing in the morning before breakfast!! then do some skipping, you will burn more fat, but be careful not to do too much because if you push yourself too hard you will burn muscle instead of fat!
