Is anybody a member of a Running Club? I only ask because I hate running on my own and it affects my motivation to get out and put in the miles. Has anyone joined a club and found it has helped them with their training?
I have been looking at some local clubs and have found one that seems to focus on 5k - 10k runs with a lot of interval training, speed work and some circuit training. From what I have read on here, this sounds exactly like the training I should be doing. They also train 4 times a week.
Any posts with information or your thoughts would be great!

Hi Chris, my top advice is to go and join a running club!, I done a PRMC back in Dec 2001 and I was fairly fit then, to cut a very long story short I have just been on another PRMC (Feb 14), and past again with scores of Level 13 on the bleep test, 3.40 on a very wet assualt course I also done my PJFT with 8.16, and all because Ive been a member of a running club for the past year, its great training with great results!, I done a half marathon a few weeks ago in 80 mins!!!!. Dont think about going, go and do it!!.

so a half marathon in 80 mins is about.. 5 1/2 mins per mile

Thanks for the replys.
The only problem I have at the moment is that I work 07:45 - 15:45 one week and then the next I work 12:00 - 20:00. It might make it a bit hard to train with the club because they start training at 19:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I have e-mailed them today to find out when I can go down and speak to them. Hopefully they do some later sessions in the spring and summer.

Chris 1983, may I suggest you go online and go to the results of your most recent local marathon, the running clubs should be listed next to their members in order of finish.

Congrats on that time, I'm 32 now and my goal is to go from 122 mins to 115 or less. The running club will make it possible.I done a half marathon a few weeks ago in 80 mins!!!!.

I just Googled 'Warrington Running Club' and checked for UK sites only, it came back with the one I am looking at at the top of the list!
I had a look at a recent 10k results and about 5 of the club were in the top 20 so they can't be bad. Will soon see, i'm just waiting for a reply to my e-mail now.
