POC experiences

Post by Adam123 »

I had a look through the search engine but couldn't find many comments from anyone who's actually been on a POC recently.

I have mine at the end of May (must be about the last one for the intake this year!)

I know theres the advice on the POC/AIB advice page - which is very useful - but I'm just wondering if anyone has any recent first hand experience.

anyone out there ???

Hi Adam,

I found the same thing, but am basically just using gained info from the freebie books that are given out. However I would also like to hear from anybody with recent experiance.

I've got my POC on 1st May. Anybody else down for that 3days?

When did you both apply, if you don't mind me asking?

WannabBootneck- I think there was a guy on my POC brief who had that date.

GKayesem- I applied April 05, and got a POC date for Novemeber, could have had it earlier if I wanted.

With regards to POC experiences I put a few in my favourites a while ago:

http://www.mfat.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... ht=#138612

http://www.mfat.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... ght=#86560

http://www.mfat.co.uk/forums/viewtopic. ... ght=#25225

They are not 'recent' but the POC hasnt changed since them so I don't see a problem with and old POC experience.

I have a POC 8th May and I shall be happy to inform some of you how harsh it is.

In the mean time I'm quite looking forward to when letsrole comes back so I can question him thoroughly.

Training going like a dream - just love running hard in the boots to the shouts of "run Forrest run" by those cheeky little mites in the park.

Oh you what GKayesem?

I have no-ones brains to pick about POC!

Would it be helpful if I were too write a whole new POC diary (providing I survive that long..)? I'm quite prepaired and willing to do so, it would get a lot of it of my chest telling people I think.

Training is going OK at the moment for me, slipping on current affairs a lot though- haven't done anything on that for a while now. Just got back from a swimming gala and did some hill sprints after because I was bored (great excuse) and oooh it felt good!

That would be good letsrole, I'm sure we'd all find it useful. Thanks for putting the links in to those pages - a good read

GKayesem - I applied start of December 05, a bit too close to the deadline for comfort - applications have to be in by 31st december 05 - although I wasn't aware of this at the time.

My training is hit and miss at the moment, some weeks going really well, others not - been off ill this week so have done very little.

I'm over 3 months away from my POC, how often are people training at the moment who are that far away?

I spoke to AIB and have a provisional place on the June 19th POC. They assured me that this was the last POC for this years intake.
