POC - leturette
POC - leturette
I was given a breakdown of the POC by my AFCO when I went for my intial interview - it stated that the topic for the lecturette was YOU - as in talk about yourself.
I have since recieved almost exactly the same copy from the AIB with the date for my POC - this time the lecturette topic is stated as being "up to you".
Has anyone done the POC recently, or at least recieved the breakdown saying what the topic has to be on???
I don't know which one to believe!
I think I might look a bit arrogant if I started talking about myself when the topic could be on anything of your choice!!

IMO, it would probably be easier talking about yourself as you dont need to learn anything beforehand and you can just waffle on about family, interests, schools, etc. it would also minimise the effect, if being watched, as if you are simply reading a mental book of facts (if you understand what im getting at.) www
"All right, they're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, they're behind us...they can't get away this time"

Not my place to tell anyone off WWW!
Although I would imagine talking about yourself is a difficult topic. How much do you talk about your achievements for example? As I am my own favourite subject I could talk about how great I am for hours...
The girlfriend could probably sum it up neatly into three minutes though...

It isnt just the Young officers who have to give lectures either. Anyone who wants to get promotion within the Corp will have to give lectures as well. On my Junior Command Course I was tasked with giving a five minute lecture on Grass!
(the stuff lawns are made of)
I once heard a bloke called Sweepy King give a lecture on of all things; Car Keys. In 2 minutes flat Owd Sweepy had swung it around to Sexual perversions in a Monastery!
He had the entire classroom in hysterics! Marines, JNCO's, SNCO's and the Sigs Troop Officer included. I must add that he had to give the lecture as a kind of punishment as he had annoyed C/Sgt Jan Wakeham with his impersonation of the said C/Sgt.
