No-one noticed, but I'll make correction anyway!

Post by alex4013 »

Some time ago I posted that my nephew was in the section of the Royal Highland Fusiliers that fixed bayonets and charged during Op Telic. I was wrong, he's actually in Princess of Wales Own Royal Regiment, not RHF. I didnt know this at the time, i just assumed.... Anyway.. I was browsing a "rival" site and came across a topic entitled "Aye the jocks did fix bayonets..!. I may be jumping the gun but it appears my post has transgressed the Atlantic and mutated into a different unit! Amazing I think you'll agree.. the rest of the posts on other site continue in op telic vain.... Just shows how many people are really in the know.

To be honest I've not been on here for a long time because the posts seemed to have degenerated.. ie never mind the Walts, where's Disney?! But this other site.. Bugger Me With A Fishfork! I tell you guys.. it wasn't just Walt.... It's the whole Magic Kingdom! It's Neverland! Bubbles has a post on it!

I think you see what I mean... Now I'm going to browse for a sensible post... or maybe just bid 10squillion billions for a live 8 ticket on ebay.....

It was indeed PWRR - currently the most decorated unit in the British Army. The same can't be said for their TA Drill Halls though.

Dave N - they're also Hampshire and Surreys county regt too.

So Alex4013 - are you going to make another correction?

Hello friendlyfireaintfriendly (i had to copy and paste that - i spelt it incorrectly three times),

I have a few chums who have served in all 3 PWRR battalions. As a newly formed regiment they dont have the history or the pull (bull?) of some of the other infantry units, but they are well organised and get some decent jobs.

I'm on shaky ground here but i believe one of the battalions is staying re-roled as armoured inf. so i'd investigate if you are wanting to join a specific batt. at a specific place (Aldershot or Paderborne or wherever).

Go on - be a tiger! Tony said that.

Regards,

Capt Stabbo.

Not unless "Stab's talking about yer vocab. Did you perhaps mean "traversed"? No matter.

Anyhoo, weren't the Black Watch involved in a similar afray, hence the "Jocks" reference?
