Household Cavalry Questions

Post by will daniels »

Hi. I've got RCB in September and am thinking of applying for the H-Cav. However, I am not from what is regarded as their usual recruitment pool although I have been officially informed that this is of little consequence.

I would appreciate any informed insight as to whether you have to be of a certain type to get on there and any other details such as the unofficial requirement for a private income.

Any advice would be received with thanks!

Surely, the HC do have "other ranks"!
Otherwise who do they command?
And do these other ranks, have to be rich "Hooray Henry's" as well?
If so, they must have a very bad recruiting problem!!

I really dont like what i have heard in this post. I know you can tell me to not read it and keep out of it but i think its a load of sh*t.

Its like there are 2 rank ladders. The status provided by the military, and a class system.

Say we have 2 captains, and then one is superiour to the other by class its a load of BS. You can not totally work on a trust basis if that kind of 'snobbery' is going on. Yeah fine it works well on a trip to the theatre in Knightsbridge, but not in a war Theatre out in Iraq, Kosovo, NI.

I have been bought up in a family that is deadly against class status, and i think it is disgusting especially in a 'corporation' (Probably what it is to these officers) we call the Army.

Thats it, I'm a MIDDLE CLASS, 16 year old letting off my steam, think what you will but don't slate me for my opinion.
