27-30 sep prmc

Post by Gavin »

Hello ppl,
passed PRMC and am waiting a time to join, site is quality and full of great advice, (well most of it). While i was there the Corpral said late Sep or early Nov for a joining date but have to wait untill i speak to the careers office. The PRMC in my view, was hard but not as i was expecting, what i mean by that is im a re-joiner (was in training in 2003), The PRMC was alot eaiser then my first 1 a few years ago the 3 mile run was more of a slow jog then a run, and the PTI's and training team in whole were very laid back even when the cocky lads were being erm, cocky, and getting away with all sorts..It was a good laugh and ive met some grate lads, including a MF member (shimmy) :D . Mostly it was hard and u did have to dig deep to get good times, and as most lads do ill show my times:

3 Miler: Pass (ran very slow)

Prass ups : 60
Sit ups : 70
Pull ups : 6 plus 7 (made me do more, if u could)

Bleep test : 12.5

Bottom field : 3:10 sec (warm up was a bugger!)

Gym test 2 : pass

I suppose i new what was coming thus i trained alot, even though the run was slow 6 lads still failed it, 1 lad failed as he didnt want to get in the pool (total beefer), another didnt surface from the bottom field tunnels, giving up 5 mins later . The course in total was fun but hard and my advice would be to train well to achieve good scores. The food was not too bad either  .

Training wise i didnt follow thr PRMC booklet or anything as i had to fit training in with what time i had as i got back from work a bit late. Monday-Friday i did a 2 mile run at different speeds, then i did an assult course, and did 4 X 10 pull ups on the monkey bars, then 4 X 25 Press ups on logs you jump over ( 1 post being a meter above the ground, the other half that) so was always facing downhill, all the time i didnt rest inbetween reps, i was jumping or running on the spot, then sprints around a Fottie picth. Only a few times i did a long distance run like a 6-7 miler but not every week. I also went down the Gym and did weights and C.V work. I will carry on this training but maybe go at it a bit harder by increasing the number of reps or times on runs ect.

Maybe your found it easier and found the corporals more laid back cause you are alot fitter than you were a few years ago, and also youve been in proper training mate. If not do you think this is somehthing to do with the shortage, i cant be assed if it gets made easier. At the end of the day score requirements have stayed the same.

Well done mate with your pass :D

Yea Shimmy did well i should think you will hear from him soon, i dont think that because i was there before the Corprals were a bit eaiser on me but i suppose i did train alot so maybe i didnt find it as hard as others. Dont get me wrong i was trying my best and had to really dig deep to achieve the scores it wasnt easy by any means other then the run (which everyone said was easy), and i guess your right the targets are the same as they were a few years ago, maybe its all the excitement and adrerenaline which makes you go abit more. :)

I dont mean them being easier on you as an individual because you have been in training, i mean them seeming not as strict because you have obviously seen a harsher side to the corporals in proper training and must of been quite use to their wrath lol which would, i presume be much more painful than on the PRMC

Why would anyone do that, bloody saying that in front of the PTI's or say that at all in fact. That is almost as bad as some guy asking a PTI on lews PRMC if any of his mates had been killed. By the way did the guy shouting on the run pass by any chance.
