For the fitness i have at the moment which isnt alot, i had a pb of 11.07, last night did it in 10.02, i used to battle running it ona quick pace so i bought an mp3 player and man does that help. i put a towel over the stats (treadmill) and started next thing i knew i had run 1 mile in like 7.3 mins,

Boy was i happy.

Yes you are, sometimes the RM Band will muster near the squat machine and bang out a tune. They even run alongside during CFT and BFT's, but I found their tunes abit slow in tempo.

I just got back from RSC and ran it in 11:18, i was unfit at the time and i am lucky that i am quite fit in general, evidently i passed RSC, but we had some idiot there, he was sixteen years of age and he said he could run the 1.5 mile in six minutes!

SIX MINUTES

I sh** you not,

Of course he told the training staff there and they were pissing their selves, betting him hundreads of pounds if he ran it in six mins. He should of kept his mouth shut, he failed RSC and ran it in over 12!

HA!

Words of wisdon when you go to RSC, dont BS, talk back, just put your head down and get on with it.

just got back from the gym and figured i have got shin splints came to this realization 0.7miles into my 3 mile run, ended up doing 2 miles in 16.30 mins i stoped and walked aswell, is that bad as its my first attempt at a longer run, i did PB of 10.02 for 1.5 before i had shin splints.

im not the fittist person as i only started playing rugby again about 3 weeks ago! that basically the only training i been doing.

Hey DLink011,

I started off exactly like you in January with my PB 1.5 miler at about 12 min Within just a few weeks, I had it down to just under 10:30 min on the treadmill and started getting sore shins. I found that running outside on the grass (footy pitch) sorted the problem. Also, try some (once or twice a week) interval sprint runs around a footy pitch or Fartlek (sprint/jogging between lamp posts) to get your time down. Again, after just a few weeks of this, I was running my 1.5 miler in under 9 min, no joke!

Back then, I thought running 3 miles in under 21 min would be impossible for me. My PB 3 miler is 19:16 min and I can consistently run it in under 21 min, no problem, and I ain't a natural runner by any stretch of the word, so keep it up and you'll be on the same, if not better.

Good luck, mate

I too am a terrible runner and suffering from shin splints (or at least I think they are) at the moment in my left leg.

That's some amazing progress Ayrey, I feel the same away about the 3 miler as you did in January so it helps just reading you say that.

Will give the grass training a go but I can't see myself doing the sprints in my current state, I've tried and it puts a lot of pressure on my leg so I think I'll just be substituting some of my normal running routines with non-impact stuff such as pedalling, cross-training or swimming!

Seems theres a lot of us coming down with shin splints lately. Maybe those old and bold are right, and many of us are overtraining

I'm doing the same in regards to doing a lot more non-impact fitness at the moment. I've found rowing a great fitness booster, especially doing sprint rowing (300m max effort, rest 30-60 sec and repeat)

Hey, might try some sprint swimming tomorrow, thats something new

Hey thanks ayrey, it sucks dont it.
im not sure if it is splints but it does hurt a bit when i run,
i think once a week i might go down to the rugby pitch and do some fartlek, cos i constantly train on a treadmill, cos im trying to get my time down for PJFT.

I still havent run a 3 miler, ayrey can you tell me what your first 3 mile time was if you remember? i have never done 3 miles,

I have Rugby tonight, which is first hour fitness and next hour skills which normally involves running into pads full speed, takes stamina!

How does one know that they are ready for PRMC?

Ayrey where are you in the app Process?
