Hopefuly soon to be proud..

Post by Jhallam2005 »

Hello people,

I know this is very early days yet but I'm very excited. I have just filled out my application and now awaiting the written test and interview date.

I signed up and passed Genadier guards triaining when I was 17 but I also got the job what I had been wanting for awhile outside the forces so I chose not to progress in the guards.

For some while now I have been thinking about the RMC and I cannot wait for the challenge. Hopefuly I will pass the tests and interview.

I have had a medical for boxing 2 months ago and passed so hopefuly I will be on my way to PRMC pretty soon.

Regards,

Jono

Hello J

Welcome :) there are truly great people on this site with a wealth of knowledge. Just wondering tho, you say you did a boxing medical, was that at a club or a GP.

Aye, Alreeeeet!

Thanks for the great response guys, sure feel welcome.

Poony - My medical was with a local GP, near the club I box. I havent really asked but does the RMC have boxing, football and rugby teams? I imagine so? How easy is it to go a head with the sports with such career?

I box and play semi-pro football, hopefuly I will be able to carry on playing such sports.

Thank you all with such a welcome! :)

All the forces love sport, no idea about the football in the RM but their boxing team is damn good. Since joining the TA I've spent more time playing sport than training which suits me, get to go to Gucci places to play Gucci sports...if only it was on Gucci pay.

Good luck with your application.

Poony mate not sure if the RM have a BMX team

Ahhh ok cheers bud.

Found this for you,

http://www.royalmarinesfootball.co.uk/index.html

Hope that clears up the footy question :)

Good luck on the application an see ya round on the forums.

(walker I'm too big for those bikes now its all mountain bikes and big hills and it has been covered in BMX magazines over the years that the army see it as "too childish" but maybe I can take up motocross instead, they do jump further after all :D)

Yeah loads of sport, as a nod you won't be able to get so involved due to time constraints, though a few lads competed in the Corps swimming champs and amateur boxing. Once you're in the big wide world loads of opportunities so I'm told...CTC are currently defending some inter-services footy trophy, rugby is very big both league and union, etc etc.

When I was attached to the Corps I did sailing, rugby, climbing, orient....orientirre....map reading, diving, parachuting, skiing, surfing, sea kayaking, kayaking, cycling, and dragon boat racing.

Ive also heard of mates doing rally driving, flying, paragliding, hangliding, horse riding, etc etc.

The other thing I know about the RM is that if they dont do it and you want to do it and try and sort it out they will try and help you. And other booties will have crack at it just for the time off and dit value.

Dragon boating was great fun and the Corps team when I was it even dragged in Nods from CTC when the depleated due to operational reasons.

Mountain biking has had Corps support in the past and alot of lads did the races down at Guz.
