Knee 'problem'

Post by conure »

(sorry about the format of this message, I wrote this out in notepad whilst waiting for the conformation email)

Hi all, I usually use arrse but thought I'd ask here for some advice as I've been reading
this site through, I'm a bit worried/paranoid about my knee as it clicks/grinds then I
get into a crouching position with a lot of weight on it, it's done this all my life and
will sometimes be accompanied by a very (as in barely noticable) dull ache, I have already
passed my medical at RSC but didnt think this worth mentioning as I didnt want it to ruin
my chances, the thing is I'm worried the grinding is slowly destroying my knee, could this
be happening, or are the chances are its just a bit of noise which wont do any damage?
I used to get a bit of pain in my knee which was lack of exercise, since exercising its got
a lot better, but it stills clicks at a full crouch, its never made me unable to do anything,
and i've been trying to strengthen my knee by crouching, then standing with weights..
Am I just being paranoid? I've been taking cod liver oil, which has helped a lot,
is having a clicking knee a fairly common problem?

Thanks a lot in advance for any advise

I found taking Glucosamine/MSM helped a lot with joint aches and pains.

Well what I found was that after say a month of taking it joints would be noticeably better, so then I would lay off for a few weeks until pain came back (tendonitis in elbow from lifting) then I would take until it went again.
I wouldn't take it constantly, only as required if you get my drift.

I've taken cod liver oil and glucosamine sulphate for my joints consistently for a few years, and it's as effective now as when I first started taking it.

Flax-seed oil is good as well.

The glucosamine is safe to take long-term and there's good hard evidence that it works. It works by stabilising the cartilage on the joints, and I know a few people who have been able to defer having knee replacements for over 2 years by starting taking it.
Don't worry too much about the crunching if it's always happened, and keep the muscles around the joint strong.

I don't get you. I mean I'm not complaining if thats what you mean, I'd just like to know if theres anyway to stop so much pressure on my kness when I run or would this heal itself after a while of running?

"Stop so much pressure on my kness". Dont be so stupid. If you cant hack running, dont run.
