Hiya chaps and chapets, this may be a rather stupid question but i have been trying to look everywhere for the RAF entry Requirements (FITNESS). Can anyone please list or pass me a link for the fitness entry requirements. I was planning on joining the royal marines but with a set back have decided the RAF is for me, just have not had the time to look about. If you can please help me with this, many thanks.

RAF Entry Recquirements
At present there are no entry fitness standards for RAF recruits. Airmen and airwomen recruits must, however, attempt the RAF Fitness Test (RAFFT) by the end of recruit training at RAF Halton. If they do not succeed in achieving the required standards, remedial fitness training is provided at their subsequent Phase 2 training school.
The RAFFT was introduced in 1994. Its aim is to assess the physical fitness of all personnel (i.e. not just new recruits) on an annual basis.
If you're interested in becoming an RAF Regt Gunner, firefighter or PTI for example, then there are separate physical fitness standards, on top of the RAFFT, that have to be attained during trade training in order to graduate from the course.

The fitness test is on a sliding scale, ie the older you are the easier it gets. It consists of press ups, sit ups and the bleep test (shuttle runs).Rockape wrote:RAF Fitness Test (RAFFT) by the end of recruit training at RAF Halton. IMO its a doddle.
Latest hot poop is that the RAF is looking at bringing in a pre-entry fitness test, comprising of a 1.5 mile run on a treadmill. The test will be conducted at a local gym, under contract to the RAF. Applicants will have to achieve the current standard for their age group, less 10%. Once an applicant has successfully passed the test, their application will be processed.
At present, there is no confirmed start date for testing, as the contracts are still being finalised.

About time they did something to weed out the 'fizz' biffs before they join up rather than try to ditch them in RTS or after.Rockape wrote:Latest hot poop is that the RAF is looking at bringing in a pre-entry fitness test, comprising of a 1.5 mile run on a treadmill. I don't know if this helps at all, but it is the OASC fitness requirements for officers and aircrew candidates. Maybe somone will find it helpful.
