889 Troop - The King's Squad

Post by druadan »

Waheey, finally got there :D After 9 weeks in 1 Tp Hunter Coy, I finally got into 2 Tp and on the road to returning to training. Did a week in the gym with 2A, then in their infinite wisdom they threw me on Violent Entry with 892 Tp for shits and giggles. Not picked up a bergan in 4 months, never mind, 10 miles up big hills in Wales in 25 degree heat shouldn't be a problem, should it?! Anyhow, got back from that, straight into 2B, one bottom field session in loose order and apparently I'm fit enough to crack a cheeky Wednesday with full kit? In this case they were right, fortunately, passed both Endurance and Tarzan, cracked my tests 3 days later, 30 miler Wed just gone. That, without any shadow of a doubt, was the single most emotional, hardest day of my life. And I don't intend to repeat it!

So there we go, green lid, pass for duty in six days 8) Only 12 weeks late in the end  Despite only being in the troop a few days I seem to know a lot of them, there's 27 of us, with over half having done a tour with Hunter at one stage or another! Can't wait for Thursday to thin out on leave with the fabled Green Beret on me noggin :D

Cheers fellas. Home now, only just made it out of bed after last night's piss up, involving ridiculous amounts of beer and spirits mixed in odd ways, and diving off the main bridge in Maidstone into the lovely Medway at 5am  Hungover doesn't come close :o Will still be around here now and then, on leave for three weeks, doing six or seven weeks at CTC afterwards before buggaring off to drive for two years.

Awesome stuff. I was one of those fifty four lumi-nods watching your Green Beret presentation. It's always good and inspiring to read about the event every now and then on here, but to actually see it was interesting, to say the least.

Congrats!
