Personally I have 3 different pairs which I use for different conditions / tasks!

1. Issue Nomex pilot gloves in green

2. Issue Leather pilot glove in green

3. SOLAG Kevlar Operators in black

I've seen all sorts of weird and wonderful shit being worn, some worthwhile and some becauase the wearer thought it made them look like Rambo!
(however I've been out of the field for a while now! best ask somebody like "aes69" who spends more time in the field than your average dairy cow!)

Best bit of kit to wear is your own skin (never liked wearing Gloves n Stuff when out and about).

Same goes for pillocks wearing sunglasses, looks good in the Photos but can cause problems when in a firefight (as in you can't see proper where the sods are).

A Soldier carries and wears the absolute minimum of kit when in the Hot Stuff. That way you can bugout ASAP without having to find:

A. Your Gloves.
B. Your Sunglasses.
C. Your "Good Time Suzy" Infatable Doll.
D. Your Coat (bollox! wheres me chuffing Coat gone now?! ).

This does have value. If you wear gloves all the time your hands will remain as soft as a babies bum and if you loose said mits then it will hurt when you have to do some manual stuff.

The only really essential gloves are NBC ones. Skin just doesnt really cut the mustard (gas).

The only time I was grateful for gloves was in Northern Ireland, back in the winters of the 70's. It was bloody cold and we were grateful for the issue gloves. And they were bloody good!

Words fail me. A proper gentleman is correctly attired in the field at all times. Gloves are only worn when being entertained for dinner by a General Staff Officer (or one of his staff). Sometimes I think I am dealing with common peasants on this forum, we are in the RAF (Regiment) now sort yourselves out you oiks.

Regards

ss

PS Ensure you keep a good chap to sort out your clothing for you.

Ive always been drawn to latex gloves myself :o

I used some rather fetching yank leather gloves in the sandy places as I used to sweat like H_N in a paternity case.

Apart from Norge then I used to go glove free, even when it was cold and wet on Salisbury, Dartmoor or Sennybridge I never used gloves.

I had a warm landrover to sit in you see and it was farking redders sat in there watching Royal yomp tumble and shout "ow!.....DOCCcccccc!"

"I say drives turn the tunes up I can hear the screams!"

regarding N.I. gloves, why are they called this? (not 'cos they used em dere') but why that specific type of padded leather glove, just because it was baltic? Cheears, Dubya.Dubya.Dubya

the leather pad ontop of the glove was designed to help protect the hands when doing fibua, or foblia or tibia or whatever they call it today.
