yea I've heard from a lot of military sources that a soldier needs to learn how to get sleep whenever he can, because you never know when you'll next get some.
as for the getting up early, it's piss easy. I thought it would be hard, so in preparation for my PRMC (which is in a week and a half), I've been going to bed before 11pm, and waking up at exactyl 8. If you set your alarm, and make a huge effort to get up straight away (and not mope around or go back to sleep), it gets pretty easy. I've become so used to it that I either 1) Wake up at 7:59, and turn my alarm off, or 2) The second my alarm goes off, I jump out of bed and open the curtains and start getting dressed without realising what I'm doing.

8 o'clock is not early at all!!
I get up at 4.30am and go to work to start at 6.00am.
I then do activities all day i.e. climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, guided walks etc etc and usually a night walk and then get home at about 10.00pm each night. I then have my tea and go to bed at about 11.30pm.
And before Doc reads this, I am going to beat him to it:

Cheers

LOL know what you mean though mate. I was terrible for going to bed/getting up late for years. Since you have to be up at 5:30 on PRMC im forcing myself to get up at 6, but it's taken some getting used to, the biological clock and what not.nachtachrach wrote:know 8 isn't early, but my point is that you can get up at any time, you just have to get used to it.
and I used to get up at 6am everyday for 6 months; I had a paper round.

What games that Stinky?
Is it the 'see how long I can stay up for game.'
Surely if you got up at a reasonable hour and played whatever game it is and than went to bed at a reasonable hour you would have played it for the same amount of time. The benefits of this would be you will get the full glory of the summers day and perhaps you might than want to get outside and train to be a proper soldier in the Royal Marines instead of a pretend one in the American Army.
Summer is only about for a few months a year, you might as well make the most of it, sleep with the curtains and the windows open and you'll soon hear those birds twittering the sun will burst into your room and you'll be up like a shot.
