Hey, I once saw one of these watches that tell you how fast you are running and allows you to set time trials against yourself. Any idea what its called?
If not, can you tell me what equipment you guys use? (apart from stop simple watches)
It's got "virtual partner" feature, amongst others, where you set a time and distance and can race against yourself, (e.g 3miles in 21 mins) a moving icon on the screen lets you know how you are doing but it's clever and will speed up on finishing straights etc or if you are slowing etc.
Great fun.
Brought my running on a lot, if you need more info PM me.
Word of advice though, as it's got GPS to monitor your pace, this i've found is affected by heavy tree cover. A couple of times i've been running and it's lost tracking. But it has to be heavy and over a distance.

A very good friend of mine(Royal) was sat on a beach with his oppos sorting out a brew when they observed several black clad heads appearing from the surf which as they came closer transpired to be very large Americans carrying an assortment of M4's and Hk's. After about 15 mins of observing said Yanks who by now have come ashore and are huddled around "Master Chief" Matey bimbles down to introduce himself to be met with shock horror by members of Seal Team 3 who kindly inform him that they are the first Allied Forces to be here and that he can't possibly have been here unobserved for the past 72 hrs. At this point Chiefy discovers his GPS is U?S and that his spare batts are duds as well. Kindly Royal offers him the use of Nato Type 4 Compass in order to check position to hear the immortal phrase! No, you have misunderstood me. I'm not dumb enough to take it with me to the POC, this is soley for training before hand. As i said "might as well ue it if it's there", i meant for it to be used along time before heading off to the POC Why do you fail to see the benefits of such a thing?
Plus when i'm on a long run, i don't want to have to stop and get my map out and compass and check my position when it can be done in a few seconds without you even realising.
Fairy Snuff!
I'm not against Hi Tech I'm just saying that having the skills set to be able to operate Low Tech when the batteries fail or it gets sand in the workings is important! If you neglect the basics in favour of Gucci and Shiny it can bite you on the arse!

When I used to run and even now when I take to the hills, I walk until Ive had enough, look for landmarks, turn around and walk back and then get my map out at home and pinpoint where I walked to and work out the distance.
Looking at the size of the thing you could always swop wrists every 15 mins and combine a run with arm curls
OS maps are about 6 quid, you need a small piece of string marked in .5 miles and bobs your auntys second cousins uncle twice removed by marriage!
