Drunken run.

Post by dalo »

Ok just back from night out with mates, drinking, trying it on with the ladies, you all know what i mean. Anyway im injured at the moment, its my ankle, i injured it while running and i have been out for two weeks now. It just feels really weak when i try to run on it and use to really hurt but not so much now. Back to the point well on the way home in my drunken state i decided to run no matter how my ankle felt, and it felt like crap and really weak and started to really hurt when i stopped running, so it was more like a drunken limp. So i reckon thats me out for a while until this ankle gets better, but im really annoyed because i was really into training but now im injured and have to stop running until my ankle is healed which feels like it wont for ages because when i sit down the back of my ankle like spasms and twitches every so often which is weird. Fair enough i go for long walks etc and have put some sessions in using the rowing machine, but the run home was a killer for my breathing, i was breathing out my arse. Anyone got any ideas of how long after stopping proper hard training your fitness goes down, and also how quick you can get fitness back after injury.

Sorry about you injury, my advice would be to follow the RICE treatment for about a week or two. I'm not sure how long it takes to lose your fitness, but when I got injuryed it only took a week to get most of my fitness back up. The first couple of days are the worst getting back into routine but after that its fine. Keep doing upper body exercises. Good luck mate.

I had to stop running for a month dalo, My fitness did go down but the key thing is that it doesn't take a month to get back to where you was... It took me about 3 hard runs to get back into the swing of it. chin up, You'll get there dalo... Just another obsticle that you have to go through.

I find that when i twist my ankle, the best way to prevent it from stopping you is to continue running on it. It will feel tender but you wont feel it at all the next day.

I went running on Tuesday and its mostly off road. Whilst running my usual route, turns out a rabbit has decided to make home there and dug a massive tunnel which is hidden by long grass. Ankle goes in, nice twist and it sends me flying comedy style for about 5 feet where a metal post brakes my fall with my sholder, i then smacked my knee on the gravel floor which is now skinless.

Got myself up and i thought i can carry on. 1 2 3 steps. O no i cant.

Limped home, RICED it and it was 100% yesterday morning.

Imagine my disappointment,I started reading this thinking it was going to be a good shagging story!!.
Get yourself in the swimming pool and do lots of back stroking ('kin hell a one track mind!) should loosen up nicely.

Yeah, pissing rabbits just take the piss. I ran my route screaming and shouting foul language in pain but, like i said, the pain eventually wears off(lucky it was in the middle of the country side)

RICE should only be used in the acute phase of an injury for upto two days.
Followed by massage and then maybe some heat (hot bath, deep heat etc) as this promotes blood flow which in turn promotes transfer of materials used by the body for repair and removal of toxins as a result of the injury/repair.

if you dont like rice then try pasta with a nice bolognase sauce mmmmm :P

yes but you have to rub it inside your eyelids whilst hopping on one leg, if you only have one leg then try hopping on your stump ( at the very least will improve the flexibilty of your good leg)

if you really do have only one leg :o
