Medical and interview in 9 days.

Its fairly simple stuff. I found the mechanical comprehension the hardest part although everyone else there thought it was the easiest. Practice makes perfect.

Well I passed my medical and interview today. After a 2.5 hour wait at the docs surgery in Chelmsford I had the most through medical of my life

Interview was by far the easiest interview I’ve had EVER!!! few corps dates, questions about friends’ family, interests etc.

Got to book my PJFT now and then it’s the big one.

yeah I had my RT last Friday (1st April) I PASSED so I was happy enough. They send you through a practise test in the post,

don’t fall for the same thing I did because I only got one question wrong on the practise paper but the real one is much more difficult and the time frame to do it in is very short. I didn’t get time to finish all the questions in any section. They didn’t tell me until afterwards that if I would have failed, I couldn’t re-take it for another 6 months. There was twelve of us in there doing the test and only four of us passed to get the jobs we wanted and three of us where going in the marines.

I’ve got my interview on Monday so I’m looking forward to that. (I just need to look into the corps history a bit better) but apart from that I feel confidant about it.

Well medical and interview went well, although I feel a little cheated on the interview front, I book bashed like never before to learn all the VC's, training syllabus and important dates etc that the book has to offer, I wasn’t asked one VC got stopped half way through the corps history with the words "that’s fine mate you seem to know it all" and the training wasn’t even mentioned

Medical was ummm............. interesting, seemed to take forever and i have a separate injury sheet

the doc didn’t seem to think my answer of "I’ve led a full life

" funny when he asked me how I managed to keep hurting myself.

Things are finally happening now, got my PJFT 5 days time, WOOHOOO!!! Then onto PRMC shortly afterwards.

P.s. one little piece of advice with the interview, ok two really, relax be confident, don’t be scared to have a little joke, and wear a suit and tie, first impressions and all that aye guys. Ok that was more like 4 but you get the point.

And make sure you get there with plenty of time handy. It helps you to relax and prepare yourself mentally. and have something to eat. Theres nothing worse than having your stomach rumble in the middle of a conversation.

wooooh I passed my interview today. It seemed to go on forever. I’ve got my medical 28 April (wait till my small ankle problem has gone)

my cpo told me after my interview that he had interviewed a guy the day before who, on being asked for the royal marines moto, said "who dares wins!"... saw him at the medical the following week, slightly red faced telling us the same story.

Just out of interest, whats the difference between the medical at the AFCO and the medical at CTC when you start foundation?

From what i have been told by people i know who have passed PRMC it is alot shorter at CTC they will ask you about training and go into more detail about the history they also ask about why you want to join.

Medical at CTC isn't really a medical, it's just making sure you're up to date on all vaccinations and so on; you seem to need a couple more at CTC than as a civvy, though I can't remember what they were...despite being jabbed countless times before I went to Vietnam a year before, I still needed a couple of extra injections at Lympstone. You also get a medical examination; any problems found are treated after wk15 (basically when they're fairly sure you're gonna stay in!).
