Changing cap badge...

Post by Sig657 »

Hi guys,

I am currently in the latter stages of my signals training as a rad op and am thinking that its not really the job for me, im currently on my last warning for failing tests and not too bothered to be honest. I don't really think that sigs is for me. I've been told that if i fail again it means re-cap badging due to having points on my driving licence... again not really a wory in my mind consideraing the way i feel about my trade cap badge etc. in a way i wish i had made my second option my first down the careers office on day one (paras) im hell bent on fitness and love mil skills in general. If i was to re badge to paras then what do you guys having the experience of outsiders joning think attitude towards me would be considering i come from the sigs. And would i be automatically placed in a sig platoon from trainning without any say in the matter?

Input much appriciated cheers.

You will be placed right to the start of a new Para Platoon, they will be new recruits so it won't matter thatyou come from Signals. Thats what happened to a guy i was chatting to from the REME who is now in Tamera Platoon, he had to go back from nearly passing out phase 2 to being Week 1 Day 1!!!

Is it worth it?

What you need to do is ask your self just what you want from the Army, so you got bored in the signals and could not pass the tests, just what makes you think that you have what it takes to become a Para. With muscles aching day after day as they chase you around from pillar to post to see if you have what it takes to wear the Red Beret and your record it will state that you have failed on Signals and that you where not interested in putting your self out to be a good soldier. With that on your record I think that the instructors will be looking at you very carefully.

Its all about attitude, if your attitude isn't right then you wont acheive anything. Failing exams and, what comes across from your post, a general can't be bothered/don't care attitude, will not engratiate you any potential new cap badge.

Is the army really for you?
