Marines or Paras?
So was I, Suez was their last operational jump, 49 years ago.
Whilst I may disagree with what you say, I will fight to the death for your right to say it.

I don't want to sound like I'm having a go at the Paras, the fact they haven't jumped into action for a long time is irrelevant, the mere fact we have an airborne capability means that the enemy have to worry about the threat which means that any piece of land long enough and wide enough to drop onto has to be regarded as a point of entry the same way that during the first Gulf war the US put a marine expeditionary force off the coast of Kuwait to make the Iraqis plan against an amphibious assault which didn't come and the USMC didn't get off the ships to play(not always a bad thing). Plus the Paras don't need to jump in to somewhere to carry out their unique brand of mayhem.
Which ever organization rsn1984 joins it will be part of the strategic jigsaw puzzle he's just got to decide which piece he wants to join then stick to his guns, excuse the pun.

Someone else mentioned it but the RE is a good choice. 9 Sqn then 59 (which is going to grow into a regt soon Ive heard) alot of the 9 sqn lads end up in 59 recce which are a cracking bunch of lads even if they havent yet worked out how to do up the cords on their para smocks
(sorry lads, dont diss me as I know your medical historys!)
Theres alot going for both units, as they are both the pinnical of Army/Navy. But, and this may sway it, the RM allow the use of showers!
