Oh dear oh dear.
What can I possibly say to the wannabe gunner green knees.
The fact he uses Green in his name says so much about him. Not from any form of cowardice of course, he has stood his ground, albeit when he should perhaps have reconsidered his options and made a tactical decision to withdraw.
You really should take heed of the postings on this forum from those older, wiser and far more experienced than you.
I have served with and alongside the RAF Regt in a number of theatres. Most recently on Op Telic (note spelling). I am not a Gunner by the way. The guys I was dealing with were very professional and knew their job. They did not pretend to know mine. When they needed expert assistance they went to the expert in that field, which on occassion was me. I am fully aware and have met some of the personnel you mention. A small number of personnel from the RAF Regt are serving with other Units in various capacities. This is nothing unusual in the modern UK forces structure. You will find RAF personnel on RN ships, and RAF personnel working with the Army. By the same token Army personnel work with the RAF and so on.
I have undertaken CSAR training and took part in a CSAR exercise. Whether the Rocks get that role is a matter of debate. Whether UK CSAR would ever be deployed is another matter for debate compared to the assets that the US put into this role.
The RAF Regt used to have Field Sqns equiped with light armour. They lost those. They have Rapier. They are loosing them too. Where do they go from here....trenches?
I have also worked with and for various SF units. You are talking complete and utter pooh. Nuff said.

Its snowing outside, good weather to wait 5 hours in an ambush for greencheese, because i'm on the gun in killing group. Trip flares gone, killing zone wiped out, searchers OUT, there he is, greencheese is dead. Ever seen a blind man cross the road.
Bug-out now, because platoon sgt is kicking me around the training area, and the RAF Regt are chasing us! Ha Ha, no more greentea, end ex.
MEAT AND VEG PARA REG! eggs and beans royal marines.

firstly congrats on the funny send ups of my name! must have taken hours to think those up!
what started out as my trying to inject what Id heared as an attempt to shed some lite on to a question, has turned into some sort of which hunt! everybody hear should know that storys get put about and chinese wispered, But that dosnt stop people on loads of oher forums posting "well I hered that" or "Ive heared a rumor that". I dont see you guys hounding them!
and as for whoever it was thats gona keep an eye out for me WHEN I get in, If you meet me in person, you'ed find that I'm not like I appear in this forum, keep an ear out for my name by all means, Im gona be a great new asset to the RAF Rgt, the most elite ground defence unit in the world, there not all guns blazing theater entry units, what they are is the best at what they do!
They do do CP Ive seen a guy in Combat and survival magazine, trained up and doing cp at kabul, it was in an artical about 34sqdn doing the bussiness in afganistan. If the snowdrops do CP as well, then fair play I didnt know that.
so how about I give you lot a chance, next time I post somthing Ive hered, and isnt confurmed, ill say so. next time I post fact, ill endever to say so! If Im wrong then by all means throw you 2 pence worth in!
And just to clarify I do not and have not ever worked at Mc Donalds, I do however work In an out door shop while I am going through the selection process, It allows me to builed up a stock of gear at trade prices, the down side is that I have to deall with joe public who I detest!
and as this is a discusion forum rather then RTS or an operational squadron then I close by saying, May you all slip on the same dog tured! And I look forwared to working with some of you In the future were I shall endever to not piss you off! Im actualy a Nice guy!

another two things:
1) combat and survival is hardly a reliable resource for information
2) it started by you putting what you thought was true in, use dismissing it constructivly and offering the facts as we know them - but you would not accept it and argued against pretty much every who took the time to respond to you. if everyones saying the same thing, and its only you whos not - take the hint.

The line between BS and PC is thin and blurry

RAF Regt do not do CP! RAF Police and RMP Do, training takes place at Longmore and is run by the RMP. RAF regt do Force protection dont get the two confused!
