Proving yourself a well-rounded individual

Post by celt »

I'm a 24 year old female grad thinking about joining the army in about a years' time. My two preferred options are intel corp soldier or AGC(ETS) officer.

Can someone take a look at my extra-curriculars to see if they are okay- or if there are any areas I can improve on?

Sport- running (have entered a marathon this Summer), swimming (just recreational). Hill walking. Do I need to have a team sport on here? Will a running club suffice? I'm planning on taking beginners kayaking (BCU 1 star) and climbing courses to improve my upper body strength.

Hobbies - painting, film appreciation

General responsibility (not covered by extra-curriculars- should it be?)- admin job in a public sector department- pretty responsible, also spent a year as a class teacher (passed this to get a teaching qual)

What do you think? Am I giving the right impression?

You sound okay, but a lot will depend on how you sell your self at the interview.

Thanks. That's given me some confidence to build on the interests I enjoy rather than have to take up new sports and hobbies which aren't necessarily me.

I'd be going for commision for the AGC (ETS) as its officer only, but I think I'd enjoy the ranks of the intel corp too- plus getting a commision for them, without having been in the ranks seems very, very difficult.
