I passed out from Halton on Nov 30th, did a week of standby guard duty followed by a week of actual guard duty, then started at Cranwell on the 19th, having had NO LEAVE AT ALL!!!!!
(Is it just me who thinks someone's got a grudge against aircrew? Everyone else got to go home for long weekends and stuff, or went straight on Xmas leave..)
I wouldn't say getting in seems easy, it was pretty difficult at the time, never expected to get this far! I struggled at Halton, cos I got injured the first time we ran in boots and bergens down at RGDT (That's the Regiment phase to you) and had a bilateral groin strain from which I'm STILL recovering. (Ok, less of the rude jokes please...)
But Cranwell is at least 2 gears higher, and I've only done 2 days. Without wishing to put a downer on anyone, there's only a 60% pass rate for this course. Good news is, the people who repeat it have a 97% pass rate.
Seriously, don't stress about Halton, don't worry about trying to impress anyone while you're there, just do what you have to to get through. I won't tell you it's easy, cos it isn't, but there's no reason why you should fail!
Good luck!
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.
