Harry,

Do you really think i take all this so seriously? I find it quite amusing how you, and your fellow bandits rule over this forum like nobody is welcome, unless they are a serving member of the armed forces, or an grumpy OAP like yourself.

I have requested that my account be deleted along with all my posts to TAB a while ago (before this bullshit occured), but nothing has happened yet. TAB, i have to say has treated me like a human, and i respect him for that. I get the impression he has put my imature past behind him and treated me for who i am. You on the other hand, have got some real problem with me. I dont need you and i hope i never meet you. You can delete my account as you wish, that is how much it means to me.

I joined this forum to find out about the army, gain information, and meet people with similar interests. I have acheived that, and as i move onto bigger, better things i am glad that i found this site. As you say, it has gone downhill somewhat. I think that has partly to do with the Subscription forum being set up, and "the rest" being left to our own devices on the community forums.

Maybe, just maybe THOSE PEOPLE are the ones who should wind in their necks and let everyone have their say fairly in this public internet forum.
That's coming from someone who has won it more times than anyone

I only quoted what was written in your post....and if you care to look back to another thread a few months ago and what I wrote there concerning such matters, I object to tampering with posts to suit a certain means.

There used to be a saying: "is it live, or is it Memorex?"

Meant, are you speaking from experience or from things gleaned from books and movies and television programs (no matter how serious you perceive them to be)?
If it were the latter, then it should be preambled by "well I don't know but I've been told", rather than pretending to speak with authority about such things which have not been personally experienced as yet.

Now to state the obvious. This is a military forum and the military's not a democracy. You don't get to pick your leaders but you can choose whom to talk and listen to.
The fact that this is an internet forum open to most anyone owning a computer is a double edged sword which in recent months has caused valued members to leave and potential valued posters to refrain from joining.
Too many topics about current events are skewed by opinions presented as facts, when it is clear that if you weren't there you just don't know (again, live or Memorex?)
When it comes to military subjects, it becomes excruciatingly boring to those who know better. Simple, really.
Too many topics are sparked by media articles taken as close to gospel, etc., etc.
And many are those who postulate they will become Marines/Paras/Other, and later fail to do so. Because it ain't a simple matter of psyching yourself up. In the mean time, they ignore the precept of 'opening your ears and closing your mouth', i.e. read more, post less.
And that's only for the nobbers...

Harry's right. Too many w@nker$, nobbers and prongs, having either failed or planning to.

If everyone thought the same, posted the same, talked the same, had the same ideas and aspirations methinks it would be a very boring forum. Varity is the spice of life. Simply 'binning' someone because they don’t share your views or bite (after people have baited them) just isn’t right.

I for one dont mind URNU Student, James etc..

And I haven't seen it happen here yet. What I've seen happen is people talking about things they actually know precious little about (or have just plain made up) make authoritative statements, and when challenged, get on their high horse and in attack mode.
When you see BS and you know it is BS, you gotta call it what it is.
But then there's often not enough hours in a day to counter every single speck of shyte thrown out there.

I understand what your saying Frank, I can’t really comment on that as I’m not a military expert so I wouldn’t be able to differentiate between the truths, half truths and lies. But that’s why MF was segregated, the community forums for the youth to bounce ideas of each other and verbally abuse one another, Subs for your more discerning poster and the Retreat and Bunker for arranging all the swinging parties. ;)

Off at a bit of a tangent, (but hey, I am getting very brave,) I struggled to find the 'families' section over the weekend.

Speaking as one who has, no doubt, been awarded this coveted prize, I am keen to not interrupt the stuff which goes on on the subscription forums, but still want to ask daft questions and find out all I possibly can.

Sorry...... that's me.

I have no problem whatsoever with paying a subscription, but I got the message loud and clear that the subscription forum was not for the likes of me.

This is not a confrontational question by any means, but would it not make more sense to have the Families section on the community forum?

(Security blanket at the ready. )
