Yes. there are Para engineers, signallers, medics, PTI's, Logistics, the lot. But you have to join that regiment, then do P-company to join the Airborne unit. So for example, if you wanted to be in 216 Signal Squaron Para Signals, you need to join the Royal Corps of Signals then after your training etc pass All Arms P-Company.

They are not in "The Parachute Regiment" but they are Para trained and jump in with the battalions.

But if you want to be a proper para, you will join the Parachute regiment and go to Catterick for Basic training then join one of the 3 battalions.

HI lads, I am worried about my abilities to do press ups. I can only do about 40/45 in one go. I can do about 33 Tricep dips, 14.5 full extended chin ups. My 1.5 mile time is 8.25. I measured it again on thursday. I am worried about RSC for PARA. By the way, I saw a program about bullying in the army, is this true does it happen?

That is fine. If you can get 70+ in 2 minutes then you are laughing.

Dont be worried. You only have to get 9:18 at RSC for para, but you should be aiming for well below 9 minutes. If you are doing it in 8:25 you will breeze it.

Work on your pullups though. You will probably need to get about 10 at RSC to be safe.

I saw that programme aswell. I would like the think the army has learned its lesson regarding the ill-treatment of recruits. Having said that, i dont imagine depot to be a nice place either, especially as a Para recruit. Doesnt put me off though, and i look forward to January 16th, allbeit im slightly nervous.

RGJ talking about "battle dishonours" !! They've got more neck than a long necked giraffe called "Necky"
Next time a jacket waffles on about battle dishonours ask him about the "Battle of Ayia Napa Sep 1994".
I'll give them their dues though, they perfected a text book flanking attack using a ratio of 3:1, under cover of darkness wherupon they trialled the armys new weapon; the G10 Shovel Mk3. It not only kills the "enemy" (for enemy substitite Danish female tour guide) but it's handy for disposing of their bodies too.
F***ing tools the lot of 'em. Resulted in my regt being banned from Ayia Napa too(ban still in place today) and most of the pads who were on R&R at the time, being turfed out of their hotel rooms and having to find alternative accomodation in Paphos and Larnaca.

HI I have just returned from a visit to Pirbright. I feel like an idiot. I met a lad in the cook house que, f@#k mashed my face to shit when he said his time for BFT was 7.20. I literally fainted mentally. That is almost world record time. I swear he was about 16/17 looked like a right hard bastard. When I stepped out the cook house I saw a mountain of GPMGs and SA80A2s with like 12 ammo belts resting on them.

It is not just a TA training centre, 3 Para was there on some big exercise. I leave the cook house and see a mountain of arms just stacked on top of each other. I asked some of them about what thy though of the life in Para. Some said they enjoyed it others were leaving soon.

How far into training are you james anyway? Know what battalion you'll end up in? Im looking at doing a tour and going regular, probably with 1 PARA.

I am not yet in training. I start at ITC on the 16th January. I have heard rumours that alot of recruits who pass-out next year will be going to the 1st Battalion, so who knows.

Good luck with the tour, and if you decide to join a regular battalion.

Will probably run into you at some point. I hear 2 PARA is badly undermanned, especially at the senior ranks. Circuit work being the reason supposedly.
