No offence mate, but would it not make more sense to ask a RM Careers Advisor - that's what they're there for. Phone them up, express an interest and they will send you an information pack containing everything you would ever want to know.

I'm studying BA Hons Outdoor Education & Adventure Recreation, with a view to going into the Outdoors Industry after a career in the Marines (Marine though, not Officer as my A-Level grades are shite). Something along the Outdoors or Physical Education route are the obvious ones - but at the end of the day do something that interests you otherwise you will not pass your Degree. I doubt the Marines care what degree you have, unless you're looking to be a Sigs Officer or Engineer etc. A Degree merely proves that you are capable of applying yourself and studying to a higher level - it's just a piece of paper at the end of the day.
If you don't possess the qualities the Marines want in a Leader, you will fail - degree or no degree.

It actually comes down to UCAS point..and ohh I know so well about these bastard things!
You need 140 cumulative points, the new system is more lax and allows it from a number of different qualifications...As levels, A levels, key Skills, HND's ets.
BUT a word of advice would be to find out for definate is what you are currently taking or going to be taking would allow you to apply because I belive that if you did for example 5 AS levels that would not be enoughn because you need to make them a full A level.
2 E's at AS and 2 E's at A-level would give you the bare minimum of 140 points.
Here is the official UCAS website that'll let you know a bit about qualification and what they are worth.

Hope this helps.
Charles.

Yes as long as you have the qualities to be an officer i.e leadership skills, initative etc.I doubt the Marines care what degree you have
Bearing in mind that the interview stage is going to require you to have a knowledge/interest in current affairs choose an approiate degree perhaps(one more advantage in selection) but definitely one that you enjoy(think very long and very hard about this) and that may give you options if you don't make it, change your mind or don't see yourself being a Royal your entire career. Phone the AFCO as well Iv'e got a list of questions as long as your arm. Ask about sponsership too.

I'm also going for a commission, and I have my final interview, the one before the POC at least, in January.
I was told that I needed 140 UCAS points A*-C, and although I had these my A*-C grades did not add up to this.
However, my Careers Officer changed a couple of months back, and whilst I was talking to him about re-takes, he said "As far as I'm concerned, you're qualified to take selection".
As far as a degree goes, as Humph said, you need something that interests you and will be useful to you. A degree shows you have the aptitude to learn, but is not essential.
