I've just found this forum today and I've been reading through it, learning a lot about what is required to join the army. I've sent away for information and a video or something and am looking forward to going down to the local army office in the next few days. However I have one concern, you see my height is only 5 foot 5 on a good day!
Now I think I'm fit enough to get into the army, since I've been boxing for years and I weigh about 10 and a half stone so I'm not a skinny kid but I was just wondering if my height would count against me in anyway? I mean am I going to have do 2 pressups for every one of the other recruits or will they just judge me on how good of a soldier they think I might become?
My friend was 4 ft 12 or something when he first entered the army. Yes he had the usual banter but he had the last laugh by getting to the rank Sgt Major of the unit before retiring
You probably wont want to be a Guardsman. And you probably wont want to be a Para either (i hear that small people find tabbing very hard work, as you take 2 steps for every 1 step other people take).

I thought it would have been easier, I mean there would be less of you to dig out of the ground
There are are two kinds of people:
Those who say to god, "Thy will be done", and those to whom god says, "Alright then, have it your way".
Rage,
I'm sure you'll be OK height wise but pop down the AFCO and get it confirmed by them.
Im going on Monday, since that was the only time I could get some time off. I've just received my free video and all I can say is that I'm looking forward to it.
One of the guys looking after us at RSC was from the black watch and he was a tiny fella only about 5 foot 2. I might of been looking down at him to talk but looked up to him as hes done it and iv not.
