No boots

Post by Rhino »

On passing the PRMC we were told that you are no longer issued with boots and are given them when you start basic but my mate went a week later and passed and was given some, is it worth buying some so I can break them in before I go back?

I got some after I passed PRMC, I would contact your carrers office and tell them, they might send you to a near by camp to sign some out for free or something.

Yes gruff, you can use your own insoles. I used sorbothanes in mine and had no problems....well except after wet and dry routine. They tend to stay wet

I will tell you the most comfortable insoles for boots...if you have got an old pair of Reebok Classics lying around, use the insoles from them. Made out of rubber and not material they obviously dont absorb any moisture. I find them practical and comfortable. Make sure you get the rubber ones though, not the material ones.

they gave me some really horrible magnum insoles with my boots after passing prmc, so ive bought a pare of sorbothanes and they are really comfortable, might have to get another pair for wet and dry routine
you want it bad enough, you will get it.

just as a matter of interest, whats the crack with the issue insoles?, they bullet proof or something :D , they must be good at something, because they sure as sh!t do a fairly crappy job of being comfortable!

The reason you didn't get boots at end of PRMC is probably becuase, there's a bloody shortage of size 9-11 boots in British forces! I have only been issued 1 pair instead of the usual 2 for the TA. But luckily I have a pair of scuffed boots for field already, so wil keep issue for smart dress.

I find the heels just too darn uncomfy though Sticky, never could get used to them. Anyway, how did you find out about what the TA really do behind closed doors? Someone will hang for this info. leak!

I was in the gym yesterday and was doing some pad work with a mate of mine and one of the instructors came over to me to ask about boxing - how long I'd been doing it etc. I told him I'd been laying off it lately to concentrate on PRMC training.

He then proceeded to tell me how he went to Lympstone on a PRMC, passed but pulled out of training for ethical reasons. Now he's either a liar or he's a prat. Why go to PRMC if you have an ethical issue with the forces? why even go to the AFCO in the first place?!?!

After POC a lot of the lads on the course that passed did say that they now weren't sure if it was for them - not for all people - as there seemed easier and more lucrative ways of earning a crust.

guess you have to really want it.
