October Sift Anyone ?
Hello One and All,
Simple question for anyone out there in the know, when is the October sift happening at OASC ??. Have contacted Cranwell and they can't give a straight answer and my AFCO have said they don't know when it is either !. If anyone does know and can tell me I would apreciate it, after all it's better to have a little warning before one or two (HOPEFULLY) brown envelopes drop through my letter box !.
By the way, anyone see the Red Arrows program thats started recently ?, looks good stuff to me.

Fate decided - NOT
Hi All,
Just thought I'd update you all on my progress !, I have been put through to December's shortlist know due to lack of places etc after going through the sift again. Spoke to AFCO and they have said this is becoming more of a common thing unfortunately.
So, if you want to be an RAF Officer, be patient, be patient oh, and be even more patient.
Have to say I am more than a little pee'd off with the situation, why can they not decide one way or another. Surely your either good enough or your not, why mess people around !.

OASC Reports
Vikki, you have to get used to that. Military style reporting is very harsh. Once on IOT you will soon get used to being criticised by your peers and the instructors. Every task ends with a de-brief - and you'll usually get torn apart. The idea is to create a culture of constructive self-criticism that will enable you to adapt and flourish once you've left the sheltered confines of IOT.
and i'm fine with that. the more i read it, the more i can see the positive side. it is just very unusual to read stuff written about you like that. you through school etc and all your reports are try to be positive all the time - they don't tend to focus on your weaknesses. i just wanted to give other people who r waiting for theirs the heads up.
oh and thanks for the congratulations everyone!
sorry for being bitchy - not in the best of moods this morning. oh well, going out tonight and getting paraleticly drunk!

thankyou!!
final board grade of 21 (3). got 64/81,which is a 4, on the interview, then 3s and 2s on the part2 bit. 4 for fitness. don't ask me what it's all out of though. it was obviously good enough to get offered a place on though.
up to chicksands on dec 3rd for more tests and a "specialist interview". then got a choice of fan visits in mid/late april, all for a may 29 start

The waiting game !
Hi All,
I have come out of my self imposed sulk about having to wait another two months to find out if I am going to get in !, (Only joking).
BC, Biggles, Vikki et al, thanks for the supportive comments it really is appreciated. Have to say, I dont think that I am looking forward to receiving and reading my board report !. I had not really thought about it until reading the thread above.
May 29th, nice time for starting IOT, all that summer weather, you'll get a tan and the RAF will be paying you to get it !!!!!.
Vikki, am sure you will be fine through the rest of your tests etc, so good luck with them.
Cheers All,
Brad

Hey Vicki, reviving an old topic I know but I've got a couple more q's for you.
On your score sheet do you know the breakdown of individual scores?? In particular your problem solving.
Also, theres a small box which is for your overall performance under officer, d'you mind telling me what you got??
Sorry for all the questions Vicki I'm just trying to work out in comparison to your scores how well/bad I did so I can get some more perspective on it overall.
And you're certainly right, board reports don't make for good reading!!
Good luck at Chicksands!
