Girlfriends and stuff....

Hello! (again)

I don't know if anybody else is having this problem, but i would like some advice..

I'm hoping to join the Para's and have been working my arse off to get in shape for training.

However,

I'm really worried about leaving my girlfriend when i go away. She's fully supporting me and giving me all the support i could ask for, which is fantastic don't get me wrong.

She said she'd stick by me, but its easy said than done. I'm basicaly just worried that we're gunna fall part, especially if i'm away for 6 months to a year at a time.

i know this isn't a problem page, but are there any other guys who are having the same thoughts?

It's true what he say's though, the divorce rate in the force's is very high. The lifestyle put's a strain on any relationship, so if your worried now, how do you think you will feel when you get deployed? I assume your young so there is plenty of chance to settle down later.

Loads of blokes through out the Armed Forces have girlfriends or are married and only have the same probs as any civvy, however loads break up, thats just life.
However most of them dont get seperated because of the Army as the wifes have a dam good life style, it is the normal reasons any one else breaks up.
As for your bird dont dump her stick with her and go for the Paras, however if she wonts you to leave or says she will dump you tell her where to go and go find a squddie groupie down the local pub.

When I was in the forces, you could spend years overseas, when the mail came around you would see a chaps face fall when open a letter, and every one would sing that old hit to him that was called "DEAR JOHN",
any of you lot remember that old song.

I remember the lads puting there Dear John's on the notice board.
Most of them had a cry in there beer that night, never seen any that were really affected.
