How long after your intial interview at AFCO is it until you get invited to OASC, if you're invited at all that is?
Also if you do well at OASC and they offer you a place how long can it be till you join?
I'm applying for Loadmaster and was just wondering what the general time scale would be to me maybe getting in.
Thanks for any help.

Total time between first visit to AFCO and starting training at Halton near enough spot on a year.

Timeline to OASC
Hi,
There is a difference between officers and airmen aircrew vacancies ; competition is more fierce for officers than for airmen aircrew and that may have some relevance on timelines. Dont get me wrong, the standard for airmen aircrew is the same as for officers, its just that more people apply for officer than airmen aircrew.
Taken me since October 2002 to get this far so by the time I go into the next 'sift' I will have been at this lark for two years !. Mind you, I cocked up big time when I went to OASC in 2003, so I have had to wait a year after that date before returning there again.
Good Luck and give it your best shot.

Keep trying & don't fall at the first hurdle !

The timelines will differ from Branch to Branch. For example, PEdO only recruits a few officers each year...so they board you at OASC to coincide with a reasonable delay to attend IOT. That, in turn, is scheduled to allow minimal delay before they run the Specialist training.
What you have to do is find out when the Specialist training courses for your chosen branch/es are running and work the timeline out backwards.
OASC will not rush you through the system if it will cause you to spend an inordinately long time holding in-between training courses.
Why? Because they will have to pay you to sit on your arse in the RAF, wheras they don't have to pay you to sit on your arse at home as a civvy. And this saves valuable taxpayers money that could otherwise be spent on new kit!
