sit ups problems

Post by gunjakx »

Hi, long time since i've been on this forum, been at uni finishing exams a shite.

Anyway, i'm having a problem improving my maximum number of sit-ups. back in 2000 i had appendix op and only last year i had a hernia operation aswell, since then i've had a real problem completing more than 50. Any advice anyone can give would be great. everything else is great i can run 6min miles and perform 100+ press-ups but i'm struggling on the sit up side. PLEASE HELP!!

cheers lads

Welcome back. Your hernia and appendix sites will no doubt be weak. Rather than going balls out quickly, wind back a tad. Start at 20 reps, but do 3 sets, properly, but slowly, build up the muscles again. Each week add five reps, until you can feel an improvement and then start to speed up again.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

gunjakx,
Remember to stretch as well bud.
this is very important, especially for you, as you will no doubt have scar tissue after your ops.
After you have done your sit-ups, turn over onto your front and stretch your abs the other way by lying flat on your stomach as if you were in a press-up position.
then lift your head and shoulders off the floor, and stretch back (like you are a performing seal) hold the position and then repeat. Keep your pelvis on the floor.
