How old were you when you joined the military?
Just wondering how old people on this forum were when they joined the military.
Just asking because i am 20 and thinking about joining the military and i think that i am a bit older than the average age when people join.
I wanted to join as soon as i could from leaving school but i had a conversation with my mam and she was against me joining because she didn't want to worry all the time like she did when my Dad was in the army.
But now i am really considering joining since it seems my life isn't really going anywhere because at the moment i am stcuk behind a computer all day as a graphic designer and its starting to do my head in - I want to get out there and see part of the world and have an adventure basically but is this the right reason for me to join the army, is it right for me to join the army because i am bored with life?
Be good if i could get soe advice from you guys on this subject.
Cheers

I am assuming that a bit more maturity goes along with your couple of extra years of age, if this is so then it will stand you in good stead. 20 is certainly not over the hill for joining the military. At the most you will be two years older than the average. Some of the best recruits I have come across were older than the average. If this is what you want, go for it.

Scott, I'm joining the RAF in September, and I'll be 27 at Christmas, so you're still a babby really! I'm sure there will be other people around your age, I know of a couple of lads who will be on my course that are 24.
You can have peace.
Or you can have freedom.
Don't ever count on having both at once.
