Failed PRMC

Post by braywick »

Hi All!

Sorry for posting this so long after my PRMC, but I’ve had problems with my PC at home!!

Well unfortunately I didn’t make it, but I had a fantastic time and the lads on my PRMC were brilliant, which meant we had a real good crack after a hard days phys! :)

Congratulations to Styles for passing!!! Hopefully he’ll be posting on here soon with his own version of events!!

My gym test scores were

Bleep – 11.1
Press-ups – 33
Sit-ups – 80
Pull-ups – 2 (I slipped!!!)

I found the bottom field v.v tough and although I managed to get through it, I ran a really bad time on the assault course of 4.48!!!!! You can all have a good laugh at that one!! :D

Like a lot of people before me I failed on the three miler, although when I finished I think I was only about 40 seconds behind the PTI, but I just didn’t do enough.

I was asked if I wanted to leave, stay and watch or stay and take part, so I stayed on and took part in Gym Test 2, which I didn’t find too bad, but the sprints were killers!!

Ironically most of the lads found Gym Test 2 harder than bottom field, but I think that was because we were all so knackered from the day before.

Overall the PRMC has made me 100% sure that I want to join the Royal Marines, and I can already see why you make friends for life by the time you’ve finished training.

I’ve been a given a date of the 11th October to go back, so I’m working hard on my fitness, and hopefully next time I will be more successful.

Cheers

Cheers mate! :)

There were 42 guys in total on the course, and 33 passed which we thought was a pretty high number.

One guy didn't bother showing up, and another turned up with a knee ligament injury so he left not long after getting there! :-?

Four people dropped out on bottom field and the others all failed the three miler, one through injury..

There's no shame in trying and failing. At least you have enough balls to tray. At least when you go back you'll know what to expect, so you can get prepared. How many push ups is it you need to do? Something like 60 in 2 mins?

I was meant to be on your selection but got put back to the 18th July because it turned out to be full. I was pretty confident with my running, sit-ups and pull-ups. And happy that my press-ups would have improved in time until I found myself a girlfriend. With just a week left, I am training harder than ever to make up for the fitness drop due to spending too much time with her.
Is anyone joining me on the 18th July?

Sam, have fun down there matey...only pain and all that! Women are a pain in the arse...

Braywick, at least now you know what you've got coming, and seeing as it's only served to encourage you, you should have no worries come October. Crack on mate...by the way, I also found Gym Test 2 far harder than bottom field, I think because after all the banter on here I expected bottom field to be an absolute hang out, and the gym to just be hard...lesson learned there then!

I heard from lads down there that bottom field is far worse the second time around cos you know the pain that's coming...just a little word of encouragement there!

so when you go on your tour of foundation...yours truly will be there!

bollocks its close!

All the best lads remember, it does end so if your thinking of quiting give it 30 more seconds and the likely hood is that it is over before those 30 seconds! if not count again

All the best and nail it ey lads!
