Hi
Im applying to start a Adult nursing course in Jan 2005, at the same time im thinking of going for sponsorship from the QARANC. I would love to hear from anyone who may have served with the corps at anytime, or just served alonside/had any contact with them. The QARANC website just seems like an exercise in self promotion (as it is a recruitment site).
The other option is to join the local TA centre which is a field hospital unit. A bonus being that its very close to where i live and the fact that i can get 'stuck in' so to speak while still studying.
Regards
Mark

QARANC
Hello Mark,
I start my Nurse training (Adult) in Plymouth, Jan 05 as well.
I had a look at both options, joining the Ta or getting sponsored, for me the better of the two options, was joining the Ta.
if you take the sponsorship scheme you get 5000 pounds given over 3 years and join the Army as a L/CPL,which is not a bad option if thats what you want to do.
I was told by a Maj at Exeter, that because the Ta are short of Nurses they have a new officer cadet scheme for student Nurses.
You join the QARANC as a private(Student Nurse) for the first year of your training at Uni,then once you start your 2 year you become an Officer cadet until you finnish your course, then its off to sandhurst to complete your TA basic officer training and if you pass you become a 2/Lt or Lt, depending on your age and experiance.
I hope this helps a little
