We found it highly amusing to but as it was given to him by the Royal's we tried to be polite and not laugh out loud.

You see, - as I said, you are learning. Already you know all these Naval terms.
Your sense of humour is also getting closer, which is nice to see. Be careful though, that Honorary Bootneck title might still be bestowed on you!!

That should be "hoovering" The place could do with a good dhobi 8)

Tonight I had me hands on the new cloth badge and also a plaque.
Have to say that whatever you think the images on here look like, there`s only one way to describe it in the flesh.
And that`s not a very flattering word
Plus if you turn it on it`s side it`s got the SS Runes on it. The mangled version "By Strenght And Guile" simply "looks" wrong.

You ain`t seen me, right? :o

Harry,
I've been to "base" a few times in the last couple of months, (unfortunately funerals and things), and I still haven't seen one of these badges in the flesh! How did you get to see one? (I think the current guys are embarrased to wear it!!)
We have a re-union in a couple of weeks time and I have a horrible feeling that they are going to offer all the old and bold, one of the new Cap Badges! AAArgh!!
If they do, I'm afraid I will have to decline because MY SBS was actually part of the Royal Marines and were proud to wear the Globe and Laurel.
When attending these unfortunate funerals, all my of my contemparies were of the same mind.
We do not like it!

I always see sbs around CTC with the new cap badge, there on the snipers course. I even got the plesure to listen to major colonel thorpe, a ex sbs officer, and was in charge of training at CTC.
