Improving my Fitness

P.S. ive been told that under 16's shouldnt really be doing ALOT of exercise because its bad for you, is this true ???
Thanks Shifty !

You should watch out lifting weights and stuff, mainly because your body is still developing. Anything cardiovascular (i.e. running, cycling etc.) is probably ok. Other than that you should probably stick to exercises using your own body weight, such as press ups, sit-ups etc. Go to www.netfit.co.uk there are a lot of exercises there you can do without weights. I would advise you to go to a fitness centre and get some information on what you should and should not do, they're the experts.

Yeah not now, but you might have them when you're fully grown! If you do it, ask advice from someone who knows what he's talking about.

as i understand it for weights to make a difference then the body requires testosterone for aiding the muscle development. As a teenager your body wont have the right levels to really make a difference.
i would recomend at aged 15 to concentrate on running, cycling and swimming.
get involved in sports like climbing for good all round flexibility etc,
leave the weights until you hit 18-20 ish to feel real beneift
push ups and press ups are worthwhile though

I'll just stick to Playing football, running and jumping about on my bike for the moment, im not going to start weight lifting as ive been told its pretty dodgy for a boy my age.

You dont need to do weights at all for prmc. I only used weights for a couple of months to actually build muscle as i couldnt even do 1 pull up back then. Once i could 2/3 i stopped weights completely and have just done body weight exercises. PRMC is all about hauling your ass not a bergen.
Just keep bangin out press ups, dips and pull ups. Having bulk muscle is pointless! the ladies may like it, but see how you like it on bottom field when you've got to haul 15/16 stone over a 6ft wall repeatedly.
Cheers Ian

"Zulus sir! thousands of em!"
i can do about 9 to 11 Pull-ups at the moment and about 70-80 sit ups but i do quite alot of sports and i play alot of football, but should this be enough to pass my PRMC ??

No matter how fit you are Prmc will push you futher than just physicall fitness. You cannot be too fit though so just train till you are in no doubt that you have the physicall fitness and then wait till Prmc to see if you have the mental fitness.
Good luck with it all.

You may be disappointed if you fail,
but you are doomed if you don’t try.
