Failed POC

Post by bassboyluke »

Hi guys,
I screwed up my POC on 17-19th May. Got cramp on Endurance course just before hare and hounds, heartbreaking really. I wasn't on top form on the assault course either but I didn't give up. I think the heat was getting to me (hottest day of the f'ing year and all). I've got a 12 mth comeback. On the RMFA I came 5th in the group, but by the end of tuesday I was 10th - I really don't know what happened to me. The Captain said I should have had no problem with my RMFA scores, but I did. If anyone gives a damn, my RMFA scores were: Bleep Test: 12.8, Press-ups: 52, Sit-ups: 81 (out of 85, I was a little miffed to say the least when they made me stop with only 4 left) and Pull-ups (heaves): 9 (fell off bar, could have done about two more). 7 guys passed (all top blokes) out of what was meant to be 18 but only 15 showed up. 2 failed RMFA, and we lost 3 on the bottom field.
If anyone wants some advice or got any questions, just ask. One tip: bring two towels.
I might write a comprehensive diary of my experience when I start to feel a bit better, but I'm not promising.

Good effort mate. Sorry it didn't all go to plan, just keep it going and uou'll get there in the end. You've got more guts than me for even attempting poc, im just happy being a Royal Marine and sticking with the prmc.
At the end of the day it only makes you stronger and next time you turn up at ctc you'll be even more ready for the task ahead as you know what to expect.

Chin Up mate

Cheers Ian

I agree you will be better prepared next time. Well done for giving a go mate that shows balls.

Luke,

Who passed then? That is bad news about you getting cramp! Mate, well done for getting that far, I had no chance!
I had a 12 month come back aswell, but I am going to go prmc. I cant wait another year for a POC I may fail!
How did James get on?

bad luck mate, but chin up, marines dont quit!

ive got a mate-of-a-mate who failed POC, and it sounds hard, as said, you got balls for even trying, take the break, train some more, and go back and give it hell!

a insight would be great, when i finish college, i will academically be qualified for POC, but i know you gotta be summit on the fitness, so I dont think i will be able to do it, but an insiders view would be great!

All the best mate,
Rock

To Saffer,
guys who passed:
James, Ralf, Steve, Alexander, the other Luke, David and Rob.
they were all top blokes and I'm really happy for james, it was clear he wanted it and he deserved it, he was our mother goose as well. i'm gonna kick some ass next time.
good luck with whatever you decide on.
Luke

Unlucky mate, should glide through it next time. According to your RMFA you have good fitness so a year training will be plenty.
